Dining Plan while staying off property??

Can a person get the dining plan while staying off property? My sister wants to come while we are at WDW but stay off property. We have the dining plan and we would like her to join us in eating but that might not be a possibility much of the time without the plan...

No, you must be staying onsite. Not even vacation club members can buy the dining plan, and they technically are staying onsite.

She could just pay out of pocket for those meals =)

You have to buy a room/ticket package to get the dining plan.

Even without the package, she could certainly have her meals with you. She would just pay out of pocket for her meal.

From what I have read some people have trouble eating all the food offered on the meal plan. Some are paying for strangers meals and such with their left overs. I see no reason why you could not share your meals with your sister.

That being said, IMHO, I can see Disney trying to close that loop hole in the future. They lose out on revenue with people using their leftovers on other diners.

I can just imagine how magical it must feel to be one of those lucky diners though. Gives me a warm feeling just thinking about it.
