Dining Plan when renting DVC villa

I have rented a DVC villa through a member. At first I opted not to take up the Dining Plan but now after some research I think I will. Can the Dining Plan be booked and paid for when I arrive or do I need to book and pay in advance.

you need to specify it now and you pay when you check in.

These arrangements must be made in advance of your check-in date (the recommendation is at least three days -- if you're too late, you're too late, so I'd aim for five days at least), and must be made by the DVC member, not the renter.

Payment is due at check-in.

The last I heard, you will not be able to add the plan yourself.

You will need to have the person you're renting from call Member Services to add the dining plan to your reservation.

If you're renting DVC you must have the owner call MS to add the DP to your ressie. We're told they can add it on up to a few days prior.

Unfortunantely Member Services will not deal with renters, all communication must go thru the member.

What if you are exchanging villa thru an exchange company instead of renting directly from the member? Is it still a possibility to get the dining plan added on to your stay?

Yes, you can call MS directly if you are exchanging through II.
