Dining plan w/o vacation package?

We are starting to plan a spring 2021 trip for our 20th anniversary. Every time we've gone to WDW we usually rent a house off property and since we're military we get discount hopper tickets on base. We'd like to stay on property this time and I'm wondering if we can get a dining plan without booking the vacation package that includes buying tickets through Disney? Also, I think we'll be bringing my dad, so it will be 3 adults and our 2 teenage daughters. What would be a good moderate/value resort option? The girls won't share a bed, so it'd be nice to have some twin bed options as well. Thanks!

I am almost certain that if you are staying on property you can purchase the dining plan with or without park tickets.

As for moderate or value I can only recommend Port Orleans French Quarter but it isnt on the monorail or skyline if that is important to you. It does have an awesome boat to Disney Springs however.

You can only buy the dining plan if you buy a package through disney including tickets OR you are annual passholders. If you are a passholder you don't have to buy separate tickets, just the room and then pay for the dining plan.

I stand corrected! Sorry! Found this on mousesavers regarding the ticketless package.
Ticketless Package with Dining – This is essentially equivalent to the Annual Passholder Package: it combines a hotel room and either the Quick Service Dining Plan, the standard Dining Plan or the Deluxe Dining Plan. You do not need to have an Annual Pass to book this package. It is not available online; you must book it with a travel agent or over the phone. Usually you can combine a hotel discount with this package (assuming your dates and resort qualify), but you can’t get exclusive package discounts like Free Dining. This is an option to consider if you really like the dining plan, but prefer to get your tickets from a discount source or have leftover tickets from a previous trip.

No rooms exist on property with true twin beds. The family suites would - I believe - be the only "standard" rooms that would come close to having enough separate sleeping surfaces and give you a room large enough but even they only have 3 "beds".

We do this all the time. You’ll need to book the room first. Then when you buy your tickets - presumably through a 3rd party - add them to your Disney profile. You won’t have the option online, so you’ll have to call them and ask for the dining plan to be added.

As for the sleeping arrangement, it sounds as if you’re going to be needing 4 beds total. 1 per daughter, father and then you and your husband. it sounds like you’re going to need two rooms. AoA and All-Star suites have 3 places to sleep total so your girls would still have to share. If you went this route Art of Animation is the better option. Otherwise In the values, Pop Century is a good option. They have connecting rooms if you want as well, but they’re newly renovated and quite nice.

Fort wilderness cabins have a queen, sleeper sofa and bunk beds. This could be an option as well, but it may be cheaper to get 2 connecting rooms at a value.

All Star Music suites have 4 sleeping surfaces for up to 6 people. The queen in the bedroom, and in the living room is a sofa bed (sleeps 2) and both a chair and an ottoman which each open to twin-size beds. I don’t know if this configuration may change as Music undergoes a refurb that tasted recently - so it could change before 2021.

The Cabins at Fort Wilderness is another option, as previously mentioned.

The dining plan can be booked as a ticketless package by calling, not available online.

Enjoy your vacation!

We *love* the cabins at Fort Wilderness. The bedroom has the queen bed and bunk beds, then the living room has the sleeper sofa for your dad. It has a full kitchen. Def rent a golf cart!

Another option you could do is rent DVC points for a 2 bedroom villa from a DVC member. When a DVC room is booked on points (not cash) you don’t need ticket packages to add a dining plan, you can buy your tickets wherever. Catch with DVC is your best bet is to book at the 11m window, which is how far out DVC allows you to book, and you usually can’t cancel unless you buy insurance or work with a broker.

You can't book or be guaranteed connecting rooms - especially not with three adults. You can only request.

DVC Villas (AKV, BLT and OKW) have a twin sized sleeper chair in the living room along with a queen sized sleeper sofa in one, two and three bedroom villas. These are not like the bunk sized murphy beds that fold down.

I’m aware but the OP asked about Value or Moderate rooms with twin beds and/or 4 sleeping surfaces which - unfortunately for families like theirs - don’t exist on property.

That may be. But you said there were no true twin sized beds in any room on the property. There are, even though they might be out of the OPs budget.
