Hi! this is our first onsite trip and we are going during free dining.

I made all of our adr's for single credit ts's throughout our stay.

My boys eat like birds!!! DS10 is very picky. DS12 is adventurous but doesn't eat alot. If they both order and adult meal, most of the food will go in the garbage. I am not even sure if ds10 will always find something he will eat on the menu.

So, I am wondering.....

1. I know ds10 can order off the kids menu and use the adult credit, but can we pay out of pocket for the kids menu and only use 3 ts credits for each meal?

2. If the boys agree on a meal (steak usually), can they split one adult meal? this is how we usually do things at Outback or similar restaurants at home.

I know this would only work at the table service and not buffet restaurants.

It just seems like there will be soooo much waste.

any thoughts?

1) Yes. Just be sure to tell the server that the kids' meal will not be charged to the dining plan and that you're paying separately for it.

2) Usually. There may be some one-offs that don't work well with sharing (e.g. Beaches & Cream does not allow it on DDP, and Via Napoli gets fussy at times), but overall this is perfectly acceptable.

Technically, you are supposed to be under 9 for the kid's meal, but the only place we ever had an issue with it was at Big River Grill (this was for a large teenager with a fairly obvious mild DD, who was allowed to get whatever he wanted elsewhere-he eats everything, but he's also a big fan of hot dogs and Mickey sprinkles). This was OOP.

Thanks so much for the info...

Our adr's are:

Raglan Rd. dinner
Ohana dinner (won't work here) dinner
Le Cellier lunch
50's prime time lunch
Boma (not here either) dinner
Kouzzina dinner
Chefs de France dinner

I we accumulate 4 additional credits then I can add a character breakfast for the morning we depart.

I feel like I am trying to work the system and I guess I am:rotfl:, but it will just kill me to see filet mignon and other great food go right into the garbage!

I'm completely with you on that. Waste is frustrating, and there's nothing wrong with maximizing value, as long as you're within the rules (and I do see ordering a kid's meal for a ten-year-old or an autistic teenager as playing within the rules). I didn't argue with the cast member, either, since it is at their discretion.
