Hi:

Just wanted to know..convinience aside, for those of you that have bought the dining plan recently, was it cost-wise cheaper, about the same or way more expensive than prepping/cooking your own food. What option woul you go with next time? :confused3

If I was going to WDW for 5 days or so I may get tempted by the Dining plan at $38 an adult a night. When we go for 2-3 weeks I am not tempted at all because I simply cant/wont eat that much food. On the other hand we prep very little food in our kitchens at DVC but do get salads and suchlike to eat in the rooms. We also eat out so it is not altogether a cost issue. If cost is your only critera then it depends how many of you there are and how much you want to eat!

I have to say that I couldn't eat that much food either. it is an awful lot. We tend to have a buffet breakfast, snack at around 2pm and dinner or cerel in the room, sandwich lunch and buffet dinner.

We find it is too hot to eat three large meals a day and the clothes won't stand it - I can't afford a new wardrobe every time I come back. The portions are so big we even tend to buy one and share sometimes. So it's not for us.

On the subject of kitchens, we buy cerels and stuff for making sandwiches which we sometimes take in cool bags to parks. We also store cold drinks in the fridge as they are cheaper than buying them in the park and of course the obligatory beer and wine for the evening drink on the balcony when the DD is asleep!!!
