Dining Plan - Stupid Question?

New to the whole plan but here's a question. I'm seeing alot of postings about the Free Dining option that many packages are offering.

I already have park tickets purchased and 6-nights reserved (and paid for) at The Contemporary. If I add the dining plan onto this is it the same plan that I see in regards to the Free Dining plan? I know there's a regular and deluxe plan (we are leaning to the deluxe).

If so, I am wondering if it might make more sense and save money to re-book a new trip with the free dining package included even if I have to purchase tickets (my existing tickets I have do not expire so I can always use them in the future). Is the deluxe plan even available on any of the Free Dining programs.

Well here's a little info that might help :goodvibes

I already have park tickets purchased and 6-nights reserved (and paid for) at The Contemporary.

First things first, is your current res within the free dining dates of 8/24/08-9/20/08?

If yes, did you book your res as a package, or did you book room only and get tickets separately? If you booked as a package you can try and just modify your res to apply free dining - if room only you will have to add at least a one day ticket for everyone in your party to get free dining.

Did you originally book using a discount? If you already used a discount code, you will have to decide which is the better deal because you can't stack discounts.

If I add the dining plan onto this is it the same plan that I see in regards to the Free Dining plan?
Yes. this is the same DDP plan as the Basic dining.

I know there's a regular and deluxe plan (we are leaning to the deluxe). Is the deluxe plan even available on any of the Free Dining programs.
You can pay the diffrence between the free dining (basic) included plan and get Deluxe dining, or Dine with Wine, or Deluxe Dining with Wine.

I am wondering if it might make more sense and save money to re-book a new trip with the free dining package included even if I have to purchase tickets (my existing tickets I have do not expire so I can always use them in the future.
Instead of cancelling what you have you should try and modify your booking to get a new total price and go from there. If you have a Disney Visa, you (or your TA - if you used a TA to make your original booking they will have to handle everything for you) can call right away - otherwise you have to wait until Thursday to call WDW.

Good luck! :cutie:

Our trip is actually scheduled after the promotional dining program you referenced (after 9-20-08). I did make a hotel only reservation not part of a package so I might inquire if they re-quote an entire new package with the dining plan and compare prices - -thanks.
