Dining Plan & sharing

I'm thinking of using the dining plan.

Obviously all my family will have to be on the dining plan but does anyone know if you can for example go into a restuarant and share a meal, thus only using 1 table service credit (between 2)? Or do Disney make you order a seperate meal for everyone in your party.

I was thinking if we could do this we could save some TS credits for using at a signature restuarant without missing a meal. and eating too much.

ofically its not alowed,but some places alow it but not many.

I would not think a signature entree dish would be big enough for 2 adults.

We always made it a point to let the servers know we were sharing and that we would make it up to them in the end as they would be losing out tip wise (this was when the tip was included in the dining plan!).

Sometimes we went to places where one of us wanted a very cheap main course and nothing else so we'd only use 1TS and then pay for the other meal out of pocket. Again, we tried to use our credits to what suited us and this enabled us to use CS's for breakfasts which we enjoyed and we could save some TS's for some nice light lunches as we weren't that keen on 2 weeks of burgers etc in the CS restaurants.

No place had a problem with us sharing. Some places we couldn't have shared at as the food wasn't enough but we did successfully share 1TS at Wolfgang Puck Cafe and San Angel Inn. Both were enough for the both of us. But when we went the dining plan included appetisers so we were sharing a 3 course meal.

The 2008 dining plan doesn't include appetisers anymore so it is less food and less to share. Personally I wouldn't waste 2TS credits on a signature restaurant without the appetiser, i'd pay out of pocket I think.

We found the DDP quite flexible though so I wouldn't worry too much about what they will allow, just explain politely what you'd like to do and i'm sure it will be alright.
