In May I'm going to DisneyWorld with an old friend. We're getting two rooms in Pop Century and Deluxe Dining for two. I'm paying for the whole trip (planning to check in to both rooms on my credit card).

The Disney representative said that since we were getting two rooms, it was technically two separate dining plans and we'd need to show both of our MagicBands when we eat.

Does anyone know if it's possible to have the dining plans linked so we don't both have to scan both bands? Even though it's all getting linked back to my credit card, it just seems "ungentlemanly" for her to have scan a wrist band when we go out to eat.

No. The credits are attached to each reservation individually. They can't mix them.

I don't think it'll be a big deal. Just a quick scan.

Do they still give you a paper receipt to sign/tip? Would we be ending up with two of those?

I'm surprised Disney doesn't have a better way of dealing with this. I would think that "Parents in one room, (older) kids in another room" would be a common thing.

Yes, you would each get a receipt.
I agree, we are a family of 5, so we are putting one child with my parents so we don't have to stay at POR again (need something new). So his dining credits will be pooled with my parents, and our will be separate. So I will have to pay toward their tip for his portion of the check. Kind of crazy that there isn't a way to put his on our reservation, seeing as on MDE he is showing up still on my reservation (with a little star) as well as my parents?? So they obviously know that he is with us. I agree that there SHOULD be a way to link the credits as long as both rooms have the DDP.

one family in 2 rooms is quite different than 2 unrelated friends staying in 2 rooms which is your situation.

My sister and I had 2 rooms last October and we had to be careful when we split up and had each others kids with us to be sure we told the CM when we paid that we had 2 separate dining plans when we paid; this was CS only all our TS meals were together

We are a family of 5 and just returned from staying in 2 rooms at Pop Century. They would not pool all of the Dining Credits. So one room was DS18 and DS14. The other was myself, DH, DS16. When we went to pay, we used one bracelet/account for each meal. So one TS meal , all 5 would go on one bracelet. DS would scan his barcelet, and punch in the pin. I would sign the receipt and take are of charging the tip.

You should be able to charge both of your meals to one bracelet, when youve used all those Dining Credits, use hers. If she puts her own credit card on her own bracelet, that might make it confusing, but you should be able to put the tip on yours, or leave the tip in cash.

I don't mean to be rude, but I'm a newbie to all this. Any chance you can explain all the TLAs? I have no idea what all these terms mean:

DS18
DS14
DH
DS16
TS
CM
CS

DS = Son (18 would be the age if the poster chooses to list this as DS18)
DD = Daughter

TS = Table Service / sit down restaurant
CM = Cast Member or Chef Mickey (the restaurant)
CS = Counter service or Quick Service

There is a thread with a list of all the abbreviations on the welcome forum at the top of the main page. Or at least I think that's where it lives. Welcome to the Boards :)
