Dining Plan Question?

:) I’m looking @ this “Free” dining plan. :)

A room @ a value resort is $79/nt. DH needs to purchase 2 days worth of tickets (has a 3 days left from last year) We have 2 studios @ BWV for DH, DM, DF, DD (3) & Myself (on rented points).

If we rented a room at a value for the 4 nights we’d be @ Disney – Registered the 4 adults in the room. Never used the room but took our keys and used the Dining Plan – The “package” wouldn’t be a problem since we have to purchase 2 park days anyways?

1) Does Disney care if you pay for a room but never use it?
2) Would the computer go nuts if the same guest was registered in 2 different resorts @ the same time?
3) Is there something I’m missing? $79/day sounds like a good deal for the dining plan for 4 adults.

By the way… for us this is just hypothetical – we aren’t going till Dec. – but are hoping they might continue the free dining offer. It sounds like a great deal for DVC members going in October!

I don't thiink you can break up the package and purchase it daily. For 4 adults you'd be paying $1670.00 for food & passes. I don't think Disney cares how many rooms you have booked at the same time so I guess you could buy the packages and never set foot in the room. You just have to figure out if the price works out in your favor. The food package includes one counter service meal, one snack & one sit down meal.

I think you might have more luck with answers if you posted this over on the Resorts and/or DIning boards.

Good luck....

FWIW, I don't think they will continue the free dining plan past the currently scheduled end date. It appears that they are offering it to encourage guests to book during "hurricane season".

If you register 4 adults in the value, you will have to pay $10 per night for each extra adult. Don't forget there is a tax of 11.5% (might be 12% depending on the value resort you select). That brings yuor per night total to about $110/night. It would still be a good deal if the dining plan were free, though .

I don't know the answer to your first two questions.

Best wishes-

OK - first thing is that I think it is a moot question - I don't think that the free dining will be extended. It is only being offered to get people to come during hurricane season. They don't need to do that in December. Bookings in general are up, discounts will be fewer.

You will need to purchase the same number of tickets for everyone listed on the room. So if you have four people listed, you will need to at least purchase one day tickets for all four people. So this will add $63.63 * 4 to the cost. Also if you have more than two adults in a room, you will be charged an extra adult charge. I think it is $15, so this will add another $30. I plugged in Dec 1-5 in the Disney site at Pop Century with 4 adults and one day tickets and the price came to $696.36. If 16 table service and 16 counter service and 16 snack credits (to be used from check-in to midnight of check-out day) is worth more than that to you, it would be a good idea. Cost does seem a bit high - $43.50/person/day, but if you use it wisely, it can be a good deal.

If you were to put your DD on the reservation with 3 adults, the cost drops to $639.31. You will still get 16 credits - you can still use them for adult meals and pay for your daughter. But one of the extra tickets will be a child ticket instead of an adult ticket. Cost drops about $40/person/day.

I don't think Disney cares if you are not actually using the room. I don't think the reservations will be flagged, particularly since your other stay is on points. They use two different systems - they can't get them to talk to each other even when it would be helpful.

dizplanner & CarolMN - I agree - I think it is a moot point for me - I'd be very surprised if they extended the offer into Dec.

I had forgotten about the extra charge per adult in each room. This still might be a great deal for a family of 4 (2 adults & 2 children) who need to purchase their tickets anyways. I don't know why I become so obsessed over finding travel deals... I think I'm just a member of the "Economy Class Jet Set" Gotta love DVC for helping people get first class accommodations at a good value :)

It's the word "free", LOL! I still think about the free dining plan even though I know it is not a good deal for me and that I would not go during the time it is offered no matter what.

I'm not even a "depression baby", but I still have trouble getting past "free"! :teeth:
