Dining Plan Question

When we got the Disney Dining plan two years ago, we finally figured out after a few days that for quick-service meals, they were not actually keeping track of adult vs. kid credits. We had a very nice cashier tell us that we can really get whatever we want (4 adult meals instead of 2 adults, 2 kids).

Normally, for quick-service meals, my kids sit with my wife at the table and I run up to the counter and order all the food. So I was able to order 4 adult meals and just have 4 credits taken out of our dining plan. Is it still true that they don't keep track of adult vs. kid quick-service credits?

Thanks!

nope, your receipt shows how many adult cs and child cs you have left.

they count them separately and if you only have 2 adults in your party you will not be able to order more than 2 adult meals at the same time.

Has this policy been implemented in the past couple years? This is not how it worked 2 years ago. I was able to order as many adult CS meals as I wanted as long as we had available credits.

Sorry I can't answer your question "when" it was implemented, but I do know they are "cracking" down on the uses of the DDP as well as modifying it all the time.
Basically if you have 2 adults and 2 kids they only allow those meals to be bought at any given time.

CM's are now very aware of what you are entitled to and stick to it pretty good.
Can you find a CM that may be "lax" in enforcing the policy, probably but when and where that CM is....find the needle in the haystack game.

Basically we have to just realize that the "DDP" that we knew and loved long ago is no more. So I have resigned to say this....it was good while it lasted and it is what it is now, so enjoy what you got.

Ok, so I guess my next question would be: Is it enforced at a CM level (only letting you buy 2 adult meals and 2 kid meals at a time) or at a system level (the CM is actually deducting adult vs. kid credits from my plan)? Because if it is at a CM level, why not just order food twice with different CMs?

From what I remember from past posts on the subject they used to pool all credits for CS because not every single CS location at WDW had a kids option. Since then they have added kids options to all CS locations and can now split the credits between adults and children.

I think someone once used Pizza Planet as an example. Since they were personal sized pizzas the menu was once the same for all. Then they added a kids meal that includes a much smaller flatbread style pizza and no salad.

This is from what I recall and I could be wrong but it does make sense.

Um, I was there 2 weeks ago - there is no distinction between the adult or child CS credits remaining. My DB was able to get adult CS meals for himself and my 9 year old nephew. He did stick with the children's menu for my 8 year old nephew and 6 year old niece but the oldest got tired of chicken nuggets and hated the kids pizza.

The TS credits are broken down on your receipt between remaining adult and child meals but the CS aren't.

The CS credits are pooled, but a CM ringing you up should NOT be able to deduct 4 adult meals if you only have 2 A & 2 Children on your Dining plan.

As others have said, the CS credits themselves are pooled together. It's up to the guest to keep track of how many adult vs child credits are used. The TS credits are recorded separately.

Your KTTW card will indicate on the front how many adult vs child credits you have. The CM is not supposed to ring in more adult credits at a time than you have showing on your card. Some CMs may not enforce this policy but this is Disney's policy.

Naughty stuff...

I'm a by the books kind of girl and like to follow the rules. In the end I'm afraid it will be these types of people who will get burnt :(

:thumbsup2 This is exactly the kind of thing that causes more severe restrictions on the dining plan. It is hardly ethical to pay for a child's dining plan and order adult meals.

I haven't been there for a little over a year and can't comment on the current operation and enforcement of the credits. What I do know for a fact is that the Disney Dining Plan conditions state not once, but several times on the brochure that children have to order off the children's menu when available. There is a sticky at the top of this board on kids CS with lots of helpful information to help guests get the most out of the kids' CS credits in terms of variety as well as a list of CS places with no kids menu should you wish to order an adult meal for your child.

It is also against DIS policy to discuss methods of violating Disney policies and on that basis, I suspect the life of this thread is in jeopardy.

Apologies for being a spoil sport, but I am also a by the book kind of gal and if privileges are abused, they are taken away ..... from EVERYONE!

This subject shows up almost as often as refillable mugs and pool hopping. Trying to get something that you haven't paid for. If you want your kid to have adult meals, then pay the adult prices, just because you can get away with stealing doesn't mean that you should. Yes, I said stealing.

We are going to end up having 5 extra childs CS..can anyone answer this for me..can we use all 5 on the last day and get 5 childs CS at once?

Most probably not, but if you were to explain to the CM that you are checking out and want to use them before you leave, who knows ... they may be happy to oblige. What you can do, if you don't necessarily need all 5 kids meals at the same time, is to start using them a couple of days before you leave and perhaps share some as snacks or try and get a kids salad or something like that as an 'appetizer'.

Thanks for those suggestions..was wondering what to do with all of them. I hated to lose them. My grandaughter is on our room and dining plan..we are arriving on the 7th and she is not arriving until the 11th..we are also going to have a CTS left over but my grandson will be there also. He is 9..he is on his parents room/dining plan. Could we use our extra CTS for him? We are planning an OOP lunch at Sci-Fi..could we just use that 1 CTS there even if we pay for the rest OOP? Thanks for your help

You're not allowed to mix n match with your dining credits so if I understand you correctly, your grandson is not on your room reservation and you would not be able to use your credits for him. What you might be able to do is to try and use your granddaughter's child TS for a CS somewhere like the Main Street bakery. It would still be a child CS but as MSB does not have a child's menu you can order off the standard menu. I suggested MSB because of the nature of their food items which are more like snacks, yet they do redeem CS credits. For example you could get two pastries and a beverage. They are generous portions so a muffin and a cinnamon roll for example would make a good snack to share along with a beverage. Since they dont have a kids menu and you would be within your right to use the child credit there for those items, it would not be an entire waste of a kids TS credit.

I dont know if you just didnt understand the question or what. We are going to Sci Fi Dinner....my question was can we use just the CTS for the child and pay for the Adult meals OOP? To me a child TS is a child TS and why does it matter which child..we have still paid for it and have a child's TS on our card..just doesnt make any sense to me..not like we are trying to screw Disney out of a meal. We have paid for X number of meals and everyone is on the same plan. Its not like we are using ours for someone that is not on the plan.

You guys crack me up. I've been accused of drinking the Disney cool-aid but I think you all have me beat.

I never would have even thought to ask about getting adult CS meals for my kids if a Disney CM wouldn't have suggested it to me 2 years ago. So what does that tell you?

My kids can be picky eaters and for CS locations that have only 1 or 2 choices on the kids menu, it just doesn't work for us sometimes. And after a while, they get sick of pizza and chicken nuggets.

As for the "stealing" comment, I guess I'll sleep in fear tonight of the Disney police coming and knocking on my door to take me away. Silly.

Are you sure? The QSDP gives you 2 counter service meals, plus 2 snacks per person, per day. While there are adult meal credits and kid's meal credits, I don't think it matters how many you use in a particular day, right? If you want to use your trip's worth of snack credits in one day, go for it. If you want to eat 3 or 4 'meals' in a day, fine, as long as you have the credits. Why would the CMs care if you bought 4 adult meals at one time, even if you have two kids on the plan, as long as you have the adult meal credits available to use? I'm not understanding how this could be a problem, unless they're really cracking down and only letting you use a specific number of credits per day now (it wasn't the case when we were there in January). :confused3
