How long do I have to add the dining plan to my room only reservation for October/November 2009? Not sure if we want to add or not, hoping to see if we can ADR for the places we want before adding or is that to late?
Thanks for your help!
Follow up to my previous response - I think you need to be on a package to add the dining plan. You may need to obtain at least 1 day of park tickets with your room to add the dining plan.
You can make ADRS whether or not you are on the dining plan. You don't even have to be staying at a WDW resort to make reservations (unless it's one of those things where resort guests can make them a few days before non-resort guests can).
And - you cannot add the dining plan to a room only reservation, unless you are a DVC member staying on points. You can get the dining plan only with a room/tickets package, so you must also buy park tickets in conjunction with the package. (If you are an annual passholder, you can book a room/dining package only - no tickets - but your reservation is then a package, not a room only reservation. The same deposit, change and cancellation rules would apply to your reservation as apply to other packages.)
So even if you've paid in full and received your docs, I can add it to my package as long it's at least 4 days prior? Who hoo! I'm on the fence about the dining plan and that buys me extra time to decide.
So if I do the plain old Magic Your Way which is just room and tickets, I can add Plus Dining up to four days before? I'm guessing I'd have to pay it in full at that time?
What about if I do a room only...can I change it to a MYW and add tickets and dining?
You won't be changing a room only to a MYW package. You will be cancelling your RO res and booking a WDTC package. (Or booking a package and then cancelling the RO res. However way you prefer.)
Right, if you change from room only to a package, they will refund you your money and you would have to pay in full or put down a deposit (if outside 45 days) as they cannot transfer any monies paid to a room only reservation to a package. This is how I understood it anyway since room only is done through CRO and packages are done through Walt Disney Travel Company. It was explained to me that they cannot transfer money between the two. I don't know if this effects you but I did want to mention it because if it was me I would not have the extra money laying around to pay in full for a package while waiting the few weeks it takes them to credit me back for what I had paid for the room if it was all paid for.
