Dining Plan PIN will not work

My wife received an email from Disney with a PIN for a free Dining Plan. She did not check the email often and it was over looked. The PIN expires today. We called our travel agent at one of the BIG 2 agencies and they tried the code for us and said it was not valid. So then I called Disney myself and they said the PIN was valid, but they could not help us, it had to go through the agent. They don't offer us any way to remedy the situation.

We have already sent money off to the travel agent so we are not going to rebook. Very frustrating that Disney is giving us the run around.

Call your TA back and have her try again. I have a client who had a PIN code and when I tried it online it wouldn't work, I then realized that Disney had their last name spelled wrong by one letter. I tried again with the spelling they had and it worked fine.

I would also suggest doing a three-way call with your TA and Disney and yourself. See if it can get resolved that way.

Why would Disney email your wife a free dining PIN that was only valid for a travel agent to make the reservations for? That doesn't make sense. Is that normal?

My guess is that the OP already has a reservation booked through the travel agent and tried to apply the PIN code to that reservation.

A few things could be at work in that case:

1) The resort and dates the OP has booked could be sold out for the PIN promotion.
2) The dates the OP has booked could be outside the PIN promotion.
3) The existing reservation is in the name of someone other than the OP's wife, who received the PIN.
4) If you already have a reservation booked through a travel agent, you are not the owner of that reservation - the travel agent is. Disney will not allow you to call and make changes to it, all adjustments must be made through the travel agency. This is standard procedure when booking through travel agents.

If that is the case then it is not Disney you should be frustrated with - it is your travel agent. You can call back and have the travel agent try again, telling them Disney told you the PIN was valid for your reservation. Have them double check the spelling of the name and make sure the primary name on the reservation is the person who got the PIN. Or, you could cancel the reservation you made through the travel agent (assuming you will get the money back) and book a new reservation yourself, using the PIN.

Well it was resolved. Yea!

Our TA called Disney directly and was told it was a good PIN, then she let them know they had a problem because it was only good on the phone (not working on website or through whatever system the TAs have to use.

I appreciate our TA for pursuing it.

It was clearly a Disney problem. I might not have mentioned that the PIN was not working when you followed the link through the email, but as I said it did work when you called on the phone. They had our name spelled correctly and had our address right.

I figure this just saved us $700-$1000 on food.
