Dining Plan - Permanent Fixture?

OK, I have been reading so many great things about the dining plan. I have two questions.

1. Is this $35 per adult going to be around for a while? I'm thinking more specifically about summer 2007 because that's our next BIG trip (unless I can convince DH to go in 2006 - which isn't looking too likely right now).

2. Can you add the dining plan to a room only reservation? We're going for a long weekend at the end of this month, but we have AP's and have a room only booked at the AP rate. Can we still pay the $35 per adult and add the dining plan?

the plan is around for 2006 at a cost of $38 adult and $11 child, a slight increase from 2005 prices.

it must be purchased as a part of a Magic Your Way package, which includes the room, ticket for each person (can just be a 1 day) and dining for each night of the stay for each person. the room is rack rate for the season, the only way to get a discount is if you book through AAA, then the AAA room discount is applied. you cannot add the dining to an AP or DVC reservation.

I would not be surprised to see them track adult and children's meals separately at least for table service and possibly even for counter service.

I wouldn't worry about the dinning plan going away we have been using it for over 5 years now.
over the years they have renamed it and changed some of the options and rules but it is basicly the same.
I think this plan is better than the one a few years ago where you were getting 2 sit down meals a day for around $65pp per night, it was way to much food for us.
We are excited to try the new one in September when we go.

Hey there! Remember when we met at the philly airport? Here's my take

1) I am 99% sure there will be a dining plan very similar to the one being offered now available when you go in 2007. They might change the name or some minor details but it will be there. Oh and I doubt they'll be any change in the pooling of credits either - that is nothing new.

2) You can not add it to a room only ressie - you must purchase a package with at least a one day MYW ticket for each person in order to add on dining.

As someone else posted, it is available in 2006 at $38/adult. It will most likely be available in 2007, probably with an additional 5-10% increase. Of course restaurant prices will also go up over time - inflations hits everywhere.

I won't be able to take advantage of it myself as we own DVC and it is not available with point stays. It is only part of packages and AP discounts are a room only discount, so it is not available with a AP discount.
