Dining Plan--paying for kids & use for us??

I have heard a few different things about this subject on these forums, so I'm just trying to get the right answer from someone who has had this experience.

We booked the MYW dining plan. If I pay for my 5 year old's sit down meals in cash, can I then use her meals for us adults??? Does the plan distinguish between kids meals and adults? I know this has been brought up before, but like I said, since then, I have seen a few different things.

I would like to pay for her meals and get us another great dinner on the plan and don't want to find out at the last minute that it didn't work and that I wasted meals.............

Yes- You may. We are doing this too. Sending the kids to the Neverland club, for the evening, and using their credits, along w/ ours at Narcoosee's

Many have reported being able to do this. On the my way dining flyer, It also states that all the credits are put into one account to be used by anyone in the party, for maximum flexibility. Here is a link to a similiar thread: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=774667

I have read on these boards that you can do that, and that Disney does NOT distinguish between adult and child on the meal plan. I have read that the meals are all lumped together on your room key. Now for the watch out part. I can see doing this if you have a picky eater, but alot of people on these board will see this as "cheating" Disney....so be careful of the flames. Have a great trip!

No, not trying to "scam" Disney--Im lucky if my 5 year old eats 2-3 chicken nuggets at a time. Clearly not worth the money in the plan "wasted" on her meal. Can't tell you how many times I ordered what she wanted at a rest. and she hardly ate any of it......Im sure Im not the only mom with this problem... She would be better off eating off one of our plates........

The best way is to use the kid meal plain for a CM FOR KID'S, NOT ADULT . And you can pay cash when the cost is lower FOR YOR KID'S . This would be the best way, GOD BLESS A HAVE A GREAT TRIP

Sorry, Mary, but not true. All the Dining credits are pooled together on the cards. Many, many people have posted that they have succesfully paid out-of-pocket for kids meals, and used the credits for Signature dining later. Disney knows about this- it is clearly stated on the brochure that all meals are pooled together and can be used in any combination BY ANYONE IN THE PARTY to maximize flexibility.

I don't approve of "cheating the system" as much as the next gal, but Disney outright states that meal sharing and meal pooling IS ALLOWED.

Let's all go back to arguing about pool hopping and resort mug reuse and put this discussion to bed.

You might want to have a back up plan. I'm sure Disney reads these boards all of the time and if they see that lots of people are using children's credits for adult meals they will probably change their policy on pooling and sharing credits.

Hi, Mary!

I hope you didn't get upset by my post- the last thing I want to do is offend anyone. I really don't want anyone to think I am condoning doing the wrong thing.

It's funny- while I weighed in on the discussion and gave my .02, we are planning to use the MYW plus Dining on our next trip, and we will NOT be sharing, pooling, or using our DD7's credits for our own meals! It just works out better and feels right to do it that way.

We will be sharing a few Counter svc meals- too much food for everyone- and using some of them to share b'fasts.

Using kids'credits for more Signature meals isn't right for us, but I wouldn't tell others that. JMO!

mybgirl...I feel I should apologize for HeatherPage...most of us here on the Dis don't feel the need to make such nasty personal comments to people...

My only comment to the MYW dining plan is I don't expect Disney to offer it long term...they're going to realize how much $ it's costing them, especially when there are loopholes in the system allowing adults to use $10/day childrens' plans...
