Dining plan on 4/3 deal

This seems like a question I should know the answer to but maybe I am just slow from reading so much on the DIS tonight.

Anyway, if I do the 4/3 deal in Feb and want to add the dining plan do I have to book it/pay for 7 nights on the DDP??

Yes, you pay for 7 nights of the dining plan. It's just the room you get free.

I'm pretty sure that the dining plan is tied to the number of nights you're staying. We're on the 4/3 plan, but staying for a total of 8 nights and, as a result, have 8 nights of dining plan!

That is right, it's tied to the numbers of nights staying. 7 nights hotel, 7 nights dining.
