Dining Plan & Magic Band Question

Hello! I am taking a vacation at the end of August and I have the the standard dining plan. Because we are eating at a couple of Signature restaurants, I will be paying out-of-pocket for some of our other meals. My question is, when it comes to paying for meals, and tips at restaurants where I use credits, can I use my Magic Band to charge it to my room, and pay it all at the end or do you pay as go? I have never used Magic Bands before. I am asking because it is my hope to maybe pay the end balance with several gift cards.

Yes, you can use your MB to charge to your room. But you want to make sure you stop and apply gift cards to your balance before the last day. Otherwise they will have already processed the charges to your credit card on file

They usually ask at the start of the meal if you're using the dining plan. If you're not, let them know and tell them you want to charge it to your room. The, on the night before depature, stop by the front desk to use the gift cards on your balance.

While at the restaurant just let them know you want to charge it to your room and NOT use dining credits.
You'll want to pay the balance at the front desk of your resort before the last day and dpending on how much you are charging and what resort you're staying at you'll want to go every day or two as there are charging limits and when you reach them the charges will automatically go on your credit card vs the room reservation.
My opinion is that its a heck of a lot easier to just use the gift cards at the time of purchase instead of stopping by the front desk several times.

Yep, I just used my gift cards to pay for meal and even just tips, when using the meal plan when presented the check. No issues. I don't like to charge then, I have to make a stop to pay off later. I am not a fan of charging to my room account.

And make sure your credit card is linked. During our June trip we had the meal plan and I paid the tip with my Magic Band. A couple of weeks after the trip I get a bill from Disney for a bit over $900. I called them and got an apology. Yes they had my Disney Visa number but they never linked it to the magic band. Sigh they actually dropped what they were asking for as an apology but still.
