Dining plan length question

We are staying at OKW for 7 days, but we have an extra couple days on our trip. We fly in on a Friday night just in time for MNSSHP and stay at the CR that night. The next afternoon we check into OKW and stay until Sat morning. Then that afternoon we stay again at CR and fly out the next morning - a total of 8 days, 9 nights. I was originally going to get the DDP for the 7 days at OKW and leave the last day OOP for counter service. But one of the meals I was going to use credits for - Storybook Breakfast - is scheduled our first morning there before we check into OKW in the afternoon. We also have Ohana's that night so we wanted that day to be covered by DDP. Would we be best off to buy an additional day of dining for 1 day at our 1st CR day? And once we check out of OKW on Sat morning, would we still be able to use credits if we have any left?

CR is not a DVC, right? You can not add DDP on to room only ressies at the resorts only at DVC properties. Your credits are avaliable to you from the moment you check in (even if your room is not ready you can check in at 7 am and then have the credits to use). The credits can be used until mignight of your check out day.

I just read a little of the FAQ and may have answered my own questions. Does this sound right? Once we check into OKW the DDP starts and we can start using it that evening at Ohana's (so we will be OOP for Storybook Breakfast). Since we check out of OKW on Sat we have until midnite to use our credits, so we will really have the plan for 7 1/2 days. And we are AP holders, so it wouldn't make sense to pay for a 1 day ticket for 4 people just to get DDP for the first 1/2 day! Now back to planning my ADRs - looks like I need to come up with another one!

Thanks HaleyB! Looks like I was writing my post before I read yours! Would we have to physically show up at OKW at 7 am to check in? That might not work for us where we have the Storybook breakfast that morning I knew we would be paying for some OOP meals, so that'll be fine. Thanks!

I am somewhat confused by when you are checking in OKW and departing but if you are staying at OKW on points with DVC your dining plan is good from the time you check in until midnight on the night you check out of OKW.

You will have to check in at OKW to get the Plan.

what time is your breakfast?
can one person take a cab over early in the am to check in and activate the DDP then take the bus from OKW to meet you at PSB?
You can "check in" as early as 6am to activate the DDP

You have to checkin to OKW and pay for your DDP to activate it. You get the all powerful ID cards that say you are on the dining plan. Without them, you get nothing. Someone will need to checkin to OKW first thing in the morning to get the plan activated, though your room won't be ready. With the DVC dining plan, you have to pay at checkin as member services can not accept payment over the phone, so someone needs to pay for it before it can be used. It can be used from that moment until midnight of the night you check out of your resort.
