Dining plan - JAPAN ??

There are 2 table service restaurants in the Japan pavilion at EPCOT on the dining plan. What is the difference between the two - is either of them hibachi style & if so, how does the dining plan work there?

There are 2 restaurants in the Japan Pavillion. Teppan Edo and Tokoyo Dining.
Teppan Edo is the teppanyaki grill style restaurant. You sit at tables for 8 with a grill right in the table . The chef grills your food and entertains you as he cooks. We love it here. We think the food is delicious and the atmosphere is great. Since the tables are for 8 you may sit with another partry. This has always been fine for us.
Tokoyo Dining is new since the renovations. It is tables and chairs in the dining area. They serve sushi and tempura style meals. I have not eaten here, but the menu looks good. They did not initially accept the DDP, are you sure they do now?
At Teppan Edo your DDP works the same as anywhere else. You would order your entree, including combination platters if you wish, as well as your desert. Your appetizer would be additional.

Thanks for the response. I just printed out the brochure and they're both there. I think the Teppan Edo sounds better, though.

At Teppan Edo, would you also get soup & salad like you do at a hibachi style or would your meal start with the entree? We've heard good things in the past about this restaurant and want to try something new this trip, so we're exploring our options.

Teppan Edo does have appetizers, including soup, salad, and tempura (which is excellent BTW), but they are priced seperately and wouldn't be included on the standard dining plan. I wouldn't feel deprived skipping them, though, because the entrees are amazing and rather on the large side.
