We are heading to the Pop Aug. 13-19 and have the free dp. :cool1: My ds2 is not on the plan because 2yo eat free. (It actually says this in several travel guides I have purchased as well as on the dp section of the Disney website.) I have spoken to countless dining CMs about how the rules work for him and have received countless answers. Yes he eats free but only off of the adult plate. No he can not share a meal with ds4. No, the server can not bring you a separate plate to put his food on. Yes, the server can bring you a separate plate to put his food on. It is up to the indiviual restaurant. No, it is up to the individual waiter. AGH! :rotfl2:

Is there anyone that has some experience with this? It seems as if Disney doesn't really have clear guidelines. I am not trying to exploit the dining plan, just trying to follow the rules for the youngest member of our party.

It's quite simple really. He is free at all buffets, all you can eat and pre-plated restaurants like character buffets (Chef Mickey's, LTT dinner, CP, CRT etc...), HDDR, and the Luau.

At all regular restaurants with a menu, you'd pay for anything you order him. Same with counter service restaurants.

He can share off of anyone's plate at those menu restaurants. If you want to, you can ask for an empty plate for him so he isn't actually eating off your plate but can have his own.

At the 'free' meals (like listed in the first paragraph), he can have his own plate of food.

This is how it works whether you are on the dining plan or not. No difference.

We went with our 2yo last year for free dining. We NEVER had a problem getting an exta plate for our son, and NEVER paid for a beverage for him. The restaurant always provided one free. The beverage part may have been luck, but the plate part will not be a problem.
