I think I already know the answer to this question but I thought I'd ask the experts! Whenever we go to Disney, we stay in a timeshare and I've always wished that we could purchase a dining plan. Does anyone know of a way around this to be able to buy the plan when you're not staying in a Disney resort??
Thanks!
Chris

Not unless it's a Disney Vacation Club timeshare. I think some timeshare programs can trade into DVC points. If you really want to use the dining plan you might look into that. Or if it's a worthwhile value to buy an annual pass then you may also purchase the Tables In Wonderland card which gives you a 20% discount at Table Serve restaurants and gives discounts on alcohol as well.

No way around it. The point of the dining plan is to get guests on property so you have to be staying onsite to purchase it.

Not only staying on site, but buying the park tickets through Disney as well. If you use a discount code for the room only and buy tix through another place (UT or AAA) you cannot add the dining plan to your ressie either.

We bought our package through AAA, staying on property and are on the dining plan.

But you bought the package through AAA, not just the tickets. That's the difference. In order to buy the dining plan, you must have a package including hotel and atleast one day tickets from Disney. Your AAA travel agent booked this package for you with Disney, thus you qualify for the DDP.

While you cannot add the dining plan if staying on outside property you could realize similar savings by using the Tables in Wonderland program. You will need to invest on one yearly pass for your party to qualify for membership and the cost I believe is 100.00 per household. The card entitles you to 20% off on all table service locations. If you go often it will be worth it, besides the added benefits of having an annual pass.
