Dining Plan for a one night stay?

So, I had originally intended to purchase the DDP. We are doing two park days but only a one night stay onsite. The dining plan meals are allocated based on the number of nights. So, my family of four will each get 1 QS, 1 TS, 1 snack to span over two days since we can use the meals up to midnight on our check out day. We are doing one character meal, so I figured that the meal plan would pay for itself since we have that expensive table service meal at Chef Mickey's. Does this plan make sense? Would it be better to just pay out of pocket? I'm thinking there really isn't much of savings. But, I'm not so sure.

Depends on what you are going to spend it on. The dining plan costs (2016 prices) $63.70 per night per person age 10 and older, and $22.85 per child age 3-9. Will your one table service, one quick service and one snack for your party of four add up to more than that or less than that? If it's less, then pay out of pocket. (You'll get refillable mugs too, that you can use at the resort for those two days. If you won't be at the resort to use them, you may not consider those valuable either.)

If that meal is for dinner, then you're right, it will probably pay for itself. If it's for breakfast and you only have Disney adults, then you need to do some math.

On another note, there has been some discussion that you cannot get the DDP for a one-night stay unless you are DVC or renting DVC, so you may want to check into that before you go to all the math trouble.

If you can't get it for one night on a package, that is a change from previous...anybody used to be able to get DDP for one night on a package. There are minimum stays for package offers that include a dining plan, like the free dining and Stay Play and Dine (three night minimum for those)
