One thing we're kicking around, but don't know if it's permitted. We'd like to stay the first night in a studio and buy the dining plan for that night. Then move to a 2 bedroom, where we'll have a kitchen and be cooking our own meals.

The positives:
1. Do one expensive table service meal; we're thinking of The Garden Grill
2. Having the mugs for the whole 7 day stay.
3. This plan would save us money, since the mugs and the Garden Grill meal almost pay for the plan.
The negatives:
1. Having to move We're planning on just bringing backpacks, so wouldn't be too tough to move. We'd order wegoshopping to deliver food once we got to the 2 bedroom.
2. Being 'homeless' for several hours on our second day there while waiting for our 2 bedroom to be readied.

We're planning on only one table service meal anyway on this trip. We've done the dining plan, and found it to be way too much food. But for one night it might be worth it. We'd have the quick serve and snack on day 1, then Garden Grill on our moving day.
What do you think? Can we do ddp for just one day?

Absolutely ,DDP must be for everyone on room reservation:goodvibes. We are staying at the Poly for only 1 night and doing DDP for one night. Firstly, we are doing a lot of resort and pool time so the refillable mugs will be great with hot weather. You can use the refillable mugs on the second portion of your split stay! :cool1:

The mugs work all days? We have a 1 night stay coming up. We would eat at the Wave anyway. Then we go to BCV for a 5 night stay.

Never considered this.

I wouldn't do this just for the DP for the one day but if one finds themselves in the situation anyway, that can be the best value for the DP since it's good from check in until MN the change day. Remember you'll be orphaned the change day for several hours.

I have done this multiple times. Mainly booking the Deluxe Plan. I have literally extended it over three days. Credits available for two days and then since I share a lot I have used credits for takeout late night second to use in room third. Don't plan it that way but often I have some kind of credit left.

I have also booked the dining plan for the first two nights of a two week holiday.

I'm not sure I would do it again due to the increase in pricing but it was a lot of fun to use it, especially with the higher food prices during the holiday season. Plus having the mug for the entire two weeks is a nice bonus.

Also, I often stalk the website to piece together a longer vacation and having this plan for the first night allows me to be more flexible on the first part of my booking.

Will the refillable mugs work if the second portion of your split stay is at another resort?

Yes, good for 14 days from activation and can be used at the second portion of the split stay at another resort! ENJOY!:goodvibes

I think your plan is great. We're doing the same thing. We already had our trip set up with 2 nights in 2 studios at the Poly and then a week at BWV in a 2 bdrm. I would never do the ddp for 9 nights as 2 nights costs us $640 for the 6 of us! But we can just do it for those two nights and that works in our favor - mugs that are good for our whole trip, 2 table service meals that are more costly but we would have done anyways, and snack credits that we can use at flower and garden kiosks. It saves us a little over $100. Once we switch to BWV, we plan on taking uber to Publix to stock up. We still have 4 more table service meals planned, but plan on doing all breakfasts, and many lunches in our room. Plus, with 4 boys, we need to stock up on snack food. They'll be staving when we get back to the room after the parks close!
