Dining plan for 1 day

So I didn't have enough points to stay in a 2 bedroom our entire stay (there are 8 of us) so the first night we are staying in 2 studios at OKW. But maybe that good because...

Am I right that with staying in 2 studios for 1 night I can buy just a 1 day dining plan? I'd buy the cheaper one and have 2 meals, 2 snacks and the refillable mug for the rest of our stay. The meals and snack expire at midnight the day we check out?

The credits expire on the day you check-out of OKW at midnight. I don't know about the refillable mug since we've never purchased the plan that includes it - so I can't give you an answer whether or not you can still use those mugs after midnight. Ask on Disney Dining Plan Board ( iirc there are stickies at top of board that give lots of details on the various dining plans )

The meals will expire on the day you checkout of the studios at midnight. So you can use them that day and night. The refillable mug technically is only good for that one day time period, too. You can ask at the resort, and it will be at their discretion, of course, if they will still allow you to use it.

You can buy a one NIGHT dining plan. The plans are based on how many nights you stay, not how many days.

If you are staying one night on the quick service plan you will receive, as soon as you check in, 2 QS and 2 snack credits per person, and you have until midnight after you check out to use the credits.

If you have a split stay, you can use the mug for the entire stay. If you leave WDW and come back on a separate trip, you are not supposed to re-use the mug.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the refillable mug separate from the dining plan? You can buy the refillable mug without being on the dining plan and you don't have to purchase the mug if you are on the dining plan. Neither one has anything to do with the other.

Basically, if you buy the refillable mug, you are also buying whatever contents you choose for the length of your stay (coffee, soda, etc.)

I am assuming that you are staying at OKW for your entire stay (in both the studios and 2BR units). So, why wouldn't you be able to use your refillable mug for your entire stay at OKW - even after your dining plan expires? You are not leaving the resort -- just changing rooms. So your refillable mug should still be "valid".

The quick service dining plan includes a refillable mug for each person on the reservation over age 2. So does the deluxe plan. The regular dining plan does not include a mug.

I am staying 1 night at AKL on the quick service plan and 8 nights at AKV without a dining plan and am using the mug from the 1 night at AKL for the entire split stay, and yes you can do this.

Yes, if you are doing a split stay, I was told they consider it one trip or "length of stay" and you can certainly use it for the entire trip. As PP said, what they don't expect you to do is use it for a future trip.

We just completed a split stay at different resorts. We had the QSDP for the first 2 nights and the last 3 nights, with the DDP for 2 nights in the middle. We ended up with new mugs for the last 3 nights, but I did use my mugs during the middle as I considered my trip one full vacation.

Of course, different CM's may give you different answers, but the information I was just given allowed me to do it.

Thanks for the help, having the dining plan for the 1 night/2days will really help. We plan on cooking most or our breakfastes/dinners for the rest of our stay in the 2 bedroom and it's a little tight to do it in the studio kitchen.
