Dining plan credit question

OK.. this is the first year DD will be an "adult" by Disney standards.

We would like to go to Cali Grill and LC. Is it ok to buy her a kids meals OOP and then we would have two extra credits to use toward our adult CG 2 credit meal? She would prefer the kid's offerings at these restaurants anyway.

Yes. She will be able to order off the kid's menu as long as you are paying OOP. They would let her order off the kid's menu if you use your dining entitlements, but I don't have to tell you that would be a huge waste. Just let the server know up front that her meal is going to be paid with cash or out of pocket.

This June we are going to get the TiW card for the first time and I asked a similar question to a CM at Disney Dining. We are planning several Signature restaurant dining experiences and my son, 11, will fare better with selections from the kid's menu. I asked point blank if an 11 year old can order from the kid's menu and the CM said that would be absolutely no problem at all. I would hate to think of him ordering a $43 filet and only eating two or three bites of it.

I am not sure this will work. The reason being is that the KTTW card is going not listing that you have a child with you. A Disney Child is ages 3-9. When DD16 was 12 she was able to order from the kids menu at SciFi because she didn't like the hamburger bun on the adult hamburger. But that was 4 yrs ago. I've heard that they are getting strict about this.

I don't see any reason why you couldn't do that. To make it easy just tell your server you want two separate checks and which check is on the dining plan.

Also make sure to double check your bill to make sure the extra credit wasn't deducted.

You will be able to buy DD childrens meals OOP anytime, any where.
Just tell the server when you order.

I really think it depends on the restaurant. I asked to do the same thing for my son who is 12 at Tutto's and was not allowed. You might want to call Cali Grill and LC and ask their policy about this.

to order off the kids menu at all? Or you weren't allowed to pay OOP when he had credits available?
