Dining Plan - child menu issues

Working around something is not the same as it being allowed. Many people work around the fact that only 4 guests are allowed in the value resorts. Many people work around the age that you can get a child in for free. Doesn't make it right.

I agree. I've never done it and prefer to pay OOP and order what we actually want and when we want it.

No, you really can't. When using a child's credit, if there is a child's menu available you need to order off of the child's menu. That is spelled out by Disney in the terms of the dining plan.

I'll probably end up doing this just because my son and I are sharing most meals. I'm not trying to specifically go and break the rules, but we are there 11 nights and I'm also not going to sit there and track how many times we shared with adult vs. kid credits.

If Disney wants to keep track then I am all for it - we would share adult credits and then we would order from the kids meals for our meals other times. That would work out just fine for me too. I just don't want to track it.

The table service seems to be different b/c I believe I've heard that it keeps track of adults vs children credits used or credits remaining for the party.

Now on the rare instance that we don't share (such as when he and my husband eat at pizza planet and I grab from somewhere else) then my husband will definitely order one adult menu item and one kids, b/c they won't be sharing.

I have the opposite problem! I want to know if my picky boy can eat off of the child's menu at Boatwrights at POR. I have free dining and don't care if they put his adult meal in as a child's meal. Are they really strict at all the restaurants?

We are going to do something similar next week. There are 3 going (1A 2DD (4&11)) and for us there just so much food sometimes when we sit down. So we usually will take 1 CS at breakfast and split between the 2 girls (since I am not a breakfast person) and then 2 CS at lunch and I share with youngest DD.

For me we would do the exact same thing even if we did not have FD and I was paying OOP.

Been there when my kids were that age. With proper planning - don't worry your 8 year old won't have all PB&J or nuggets! Just scan the menus and know where to go.

For TS...We used to choose almost all our meals based on kids options - a couple/few buffets, places like Coral Reef or Via Napoli. Not one nugget in site there!

For CS...It's tougher but possible. We split some meals...Used some snack credits for a couple 'extra' sides...And chose places with other choices - Like ABC COmmissary in HS - Cheeseburgers there, Earl of Sandwich, Be Our Guest. We also found kids choices at the resort food courts better than in the parks a lot (fish, pasta, meatball subs, turkey sandwiches).

So it is entirely possible to miss the basics if you would like to avoid them. Just do your homework upfront!
