I know that the dining plan is not a good deal and we've decided not to get it. However, we're thinking about booking a DL good neighbor and the site is asking if we want to add character dining at $64 and $80. Does any one know exactly what this is? Is this just one meal per person? Just trying to make an informed decision.

We have heard some negative comments about the DL dining plan. Does anyone have any positive experiences with it? I know that it's a voucher and it may not pay for all of your meal.

Thank you so much!!!

Are there two of you going? The prices you listed are the prices for either two regular adult character meals or two premium adult character meals (actually it would be $66 and $80, $33 and $40 each).

You are correct in that we do NOT recommend using the dining plan. Often people will pre-purchase character meal vouchers from places like Costco because there is a savings off the price Disneyland charges, but in your case, it looks like they are offering them to you for face value. The benefit is (and hopefully someone can confirm or correct me) that with the character meal vouchers, I believe the tax/tip are included. Can someone confirm that? You can use them for their dollar value at other Disneyland/DCA restaurants if you wish, but if you use them at the character meal, it will cover your whole meal.

My DH and I used the vouchers for our recent dinner at Ariel's. They DO include tax and tip, so it was worth it to us. Our bill was about $94 for two adults (tip and tax added in automatically) and the vouchers covered all of it. If you want a drink from the bar, that is not covered. I like the vouchers for character meals, because I budget them into the cost of the vacation package.

Oh and Ariel's is considered a premium dining location (as is Goofy's).

My family used vouchers in July for Plaza Inn Breakfast and Ariel's lunch. I got them from AAA. They saved a little because they included tax and tip.

Yes, it will just be DH and myself.

BTW, I saw your response on the other thread about value and I do think you were right originally that it is a good deal.

Thank you for anticipating my next question, because that was going to be my next question.

We aren't members of AAA, but we may have to look into the character vouchers.

My next question: is the peanut butter and jelly pizza only available at Goofy's at breakfast? I really want to try it but we're only there four mornings and trying to eat at all five character meals and only two of them have non-breakfast meals.

Thank you, again, for all your help!
