Dining PLan Changes!!!!!

It's just a rumor and it seems to lead back to one source.

i do hope it's only a rumor because i love the pre bagged popcorn in the gift shop with the snack credit.

The reported changes will indeed be taking effect from tomorrow (Sunday 31 May). Mostly they seem a good thing, providing more flexibility and hopefully less arguments at the registers (as long as the cashiers work to the same rules as the counter servers).

However I've not seen anyone else reporting that regular bottled drinks in the stores will be going up by 75c tomorrow too - e.g. a 16.9 fl oz bottle of Dasani water is apparently going up from $3.75 to $4.50. You can buy a whole 24-pack of those for about the same price in Walmart just down the road!!!

Well I guess someone has to pay for other people getting all this "free" stuff on the Dining Plan. ;)

I am very glad about these proposed changes and hope they come to fruition. My DD8 doesn't always like what is offered on the kids' menu at QS locations, and I was glad to see that child credits would be allowed to be used for adult meals. I am also happy to have the option to get a bottle of water, a side salad, or a soup instead of a QS dessert. We generally don't care for the desserts offered at QS restaurants, and prefer to use our snack credits to get a sweet treat.

So, based on this, my daughter can order off of the adult menu at Be Our Guest for lunch?
Based on a blog on the touring plans website? Yes. We haven't really seen anything official from Disney yet.

No, it's odd that by all accounts they are going to spring this suddenly on everyone without any official fore-warning. However I've heard it from several sources (including from one CM who has been officially briefed on it) so it does seem like it's happening.

I know that some unofficial sources are given a lot of credit around here (DIS) and some are barely even taken with a grain of salt, but I don't know which are which. . . . Is Touring Plans' blog notoriously off base, or are you generally skeptical of all unofficial sources?

I agree with Supermom3. I really like the option of choosing a side item or bottled drink instead of the dessert as well as allowing child to buy adult meals at some places. My DD is a very picky eater and this will give us options at some restaurants. Previously, we would at times pay out of pocket for some things on the menu so she could eat and then have extra kid's meal credits left over later.

I'm hoping that the Rumor about the QS credits actually being pooled together now is true. I would love to try a lot of the QS locations in World Showcase like Norway but the only kids choice was an uncrustable. DS would enjoy the adult meal choices there.

They have always been pooled together. Notice how when you use table service meals your receipt tells you number of meals left for kids and the amount left for adults, but quick service just tells you how many meals. When I was on the college program in quick service (before this policy change!) my managers told me to tell any guests who asked that we prefer kids order from the kids menu, but if there's nothing they like or they see something from the adult menu they really want then it's no problem! This also entitles you to the bigger drink and a dessert.
