I am not trying to debate tipping. I just want to understand it now with the Dining plan. Last time I went the tip was included. I know it's not included. But is it added to the bill? Or do we tip as we see fit? Thanks. We have 4 in our party if that matters.

You tip as you would if you paid for the meal.

When the receipt comes out it has an amount that is suggested at both 15% and 18% but of course your free to tip what you feel is warranted

As previous posters stated, tip is not included but a suggested tip is noted on the bill. I found a good way to budget for this was to set cash aside in a seperate envelope. I budgeted $20 per TS meal for our family of 5. Some days we tipped a little more, some a little less, but having that money set aside left me worry free! Enjoy!

Just FYI, if you have 6 or more in your party (I believe I have those numbers right) tipping is mandatory, although I suppose if service was horrible, you could dispute with a manager. We were brought a "bill" for our tip each night.

Actually it is 18% and 20% as the suggested amounts.

Gratuity for parties of six or more is automatically added to the bill, but it is not mandatory. I do believe that one should pay the automatic gratuity and more if the service was good because, quite frankly, serving a table with that many people is tough. However, the customer is under no actual obligation to pay the tip. This applies to any restaurant. Therefore, if the service is absolutely terrible, you've got that loophole.

yes, it is mandatory, for parties of 6 or more. you cannot legally leave without either 1. paying the 18% or 2. speaking to a manager about having it removed because of poor service. you will find this exact same thing on the "tipping info" thread on the resatuarant board.

the reason Disney requires this (as do many restaurants) for parties of 6 or more is becasue larger parties take up a lot of the servers time . disney requires this, even at buffets (for parties of 6 or more.)

just correcting the misinformation, so people aren't surprised.

of course,if you recieved bad service, speak to the manager about having the tip removed.

ps. a party sitting at the same table is one party, even if you are paying separately. 2 families of 4 each, at the same table, is a party of 8, no matter how many checks are required.
If you choose to try to sit at separate tables in order to avoid the automatic tip, you are not guaranteed to be next to each other,or even seated at the same time.(if you choose to do this, please don't "talk over" the poor people sitting between you)

In most states, it is absolutely not legally binding. I am well aware of this thanks to a lot of time spent working in restaurants during high school and college. I checked Florida's laws on this and is mandatory in that state. I apologize for the lack of clarity.

If you are using your KTTW card to pay the tip, do you still have to do it a certain way????

Last time we went in 2008 we ate at Prime Time, we did something wrong and gave our server the card at the wrong time, when we handed him the card he said "oh sorry, its too late for that, I already rang it out"... We had NO cash, NO ATM card to run and grab cash, explained that to him and he was AWESOME about it.. Feeling like fools, we went to a nearby store and bought him a nice shirt (tip would have been about $30) as it was the ONLY thing we could think of...

Really wasn't sure what we did wrong, were there for 12 days on the DDP, felt like we did it the same way everytime..

Yes, you can hand them your key card to pay as long as you have a charge abilities attached to the card to charge the tip. As a bak-up, we also carried cash with us and used that when it was a lower amount.

We were going to use are $300 gift card for tipping. So will they bring the bill where you can write how much you want to put on the card? Like they do at other restraunts.

yes. Just tell the server you have the dining plan but want to put the tip on a GC. That way they know how to ring it up from the start. Makes it easy for everyone.

this is the reason pservers ask up front if you areon the DDP. (not to give you lesser service, as some have stated).

it's best for everything to be clear from the start. also, be sure to tell your server ahead of time if you are getting sep. checks. happy eating! oh, and hapy easter!!!(off to work!)
