Dining plan and the holidays

Hi all,

For the first time, I'm going to spend a holiday in WDW. We're headed to the Poly for thanksgiving this year, staying 11/25 to 12/2.

I'm wondering, do the restaurants have a different menu because of a holiday? Do they charge twice the TS credits, or cost extra in any way?

I'm trying to decide whether to get the regular DDP or the DxDDP.

Any thoughts?

The buffet restaurants will have a surcharge (I think it's around $2 per child and $4 per adult) The DDP and DxDDP are also more expensive during peak/holiday season. Check the 2012 DDP price sticky on the DDP forum.

Some restaurants will have typical Thanksgiving fare on Thanksgiving Day, but those who've been there during that time should have more detailed info.

I just commented about this on another thread, but CRT had an amazing Thanksgiving meal, and yes, I believe the prices were jacked up for the holiday. If you've eaten at CRT before, and been less than impressed (as we were - but are OK paying for the experience...) you might be surprised by their Thanksgiving meal, which was actually really tasty!! :thumbsup2

Buffets don't have surcharges over Thanksgiving. It is also not considered peak season for the dining plan.

Some restaurants may have special Thanksgiving menus, mostly because it's assumed that guests will be looking for a turkey dinner, but it doesn't cost any more dining credits than normal. They might, however, cost more in cash than normal.

Thank you! That's great news. I love CRT, so that might just be where we try to go!

It's practically forever before I finally can make my ADRs!

Just so you won't be disappointed, that's the week after Thanksgiving so the restaurants will be back to their regular menus. The Earl of Sandwich in DTD does have a great holiday turkey, stuffing, gravy and cranberry sandwich for the entire season.

This is right...Thanksgiving is 11/22. You won't have to think about the special Thanksgiving menus or prices with the dates you have.

OMG OMG OMG!!! That is NOT cool. Why did I think Thanksgiving is always the last thursday of November?

Crap, now I'm going to have to change my dates! I was only doing it that week because the kids wouldn't miss more than a couple days of school.

Mehhhhhh!!!! I guess now I'm going from 11/18 to 11/25. Sigh. Blast.

OK, I just called and changed the dates. (Not happy.. but oh well. Can't have the kids out of school a whole week!)

I'm officially going from 11/18 to 11/25

Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday of November, it isn't always the last Thursday. Glad you could get your dates changed!
