If two people go to dinner when you are on the dining plan are you automatically charged two credits? Specifically, I am wondering if we can share a meal as long as it isn't an AYCE or family style brunch? Is this frowned upon if it is allowed? Typically my husband is not a big eater at dinner and the portions are usually quite large. Thank you in advance!

No.

At most restaurants this will be allowed. Some of the third-party restaurants can vary. Via Napoli will not allow this.

1. No, you can specify that you'll be sharing a meal (using one credit to feed two or more people). At most TS restaurants where you order from a menu you will be fine. As auroraborealis wrote, at Via Napoli you cannot use one credit to feed two or more people, if ordering pizza you can only order the individual sized pizza when using a credit and you cannot combine credits to order the larger sized pizzas. Via Napoli is the strictest restaurant when using the dining plan.

2. You cannot share and everyone will be charged at buffets (e.g. Crystal Palace, Tusker House), all you care to eat family style restaurants (e.g. 'Ohana, Garden Grill), the dinner shows (Hoop De Doo, Spirit of Aloha Luau, Mickey's Backyard Barbecue), fixed price venues (e.g. CRT, Akershus), Dining Packages (e.g. Fantasmic, ROL), dessert parties (e.g. IllumiNations, Star Wars), special events (e.g. F&W special events, Dine with an Imagineer) and the Family Platter at Whispering Canyon Cafe.

Thank you! We always have a plan way ahead of time but this trip is just my husband and myself. We can't decide whether or not to do sit down meals or just piece our way through(never been our style but are willing to try). Thank you for your insight!

I feel like this is exactly what we are going through. We have always been big DDP people, but have recently changed our diets and eat smaller portions. When I called, they said that we absolutely could share a meal.

We might just use the discounts on our AP instead and just pick our way through smaller snacks.
