I'm a newbie! We are 35 days out from our first family trip to Disneyworld, and I am trying to figure out as much as I can beforehand. We are staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and have the free dining plan for my family (2 adults, a 3 year old, and a just turned 1 year old).

Here's my concern. In theory the 1 year old can eat off my plate but in reality she can't. She is dairy and soy intolerant. So what do I do about food for her? Do I bring in my own stuff, will they make her something else? And will we have to pay for it if they do?

Thanks everyone I appreciate your time.

If you order something for the one year old at many places you would pay for it. They can eat at buffets and family style restaurant for free.

Just need to ask chef if there is soy or dairy in what ever dish you plan to buy for her or share with her.... the staff at disney is great about allergy.
They will go over board to make sure she doesn't eat anything to make her sick.

I would bring food for her to eat, if your really worried or will worry about it.

I have the same issue with my son who will be 14 months when we go. I was told that I can talk to the chefs and request that they prepare a dish I can purchase for my son, or I can request that they make that dish for me and I can share it with him, which will then be covered by the plan. So, if you or your spouse/significant other don't want to eat dairy/soy free, you'll either have to bring your own food or pay for him to eat.

Here are your options.

1. Whoever is sharing their food with the 1yo orders allergy safe food. If the 1yo will only eat one component of the meal (a side, the protein, whatever) then explain this to the chef/manager with whom you're working and ask for that component to be brought out on a separate dish and that the rest of the meal can be prepared as it normally would be.
2. Eat at all you can eat restaurants. At these restaurants allergy safe food will be prepared for the 1yo at no extra cost.
3. Order and pay for separate allergy safe food for the 1yo.
