We are traveling to Disney in March. We have a dining package for the whole week. However, we are changing resorts twice to give my boys all the experiences they requested... I know the dining plan is tied to each resort but someone had mentioned the concierge can help "activate" the entire package upon our arrival. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks

Your dining package begins on day you check into whichever resort you booked it for and ends at midnight on the day you check out of that resort. If you want it to last through each resort you would need to have it for all resort stays. I suppose if the middle resort was only 1 night and you booked it for the resort stays before and after it you could use it then but the dining plan is tied to the room not the trip. You have entitlements for each night of the resort stays where you book it.
I believe I didn’t explain this very well sorry. I tried.

They are separate and cannot be combined or activated all at once. At least that's what I've been told by multiple Concierge managers.

That's what I've heard. Someone suggested keeping receipts if we pay out of pocket and see if we can get the dining credits added later... I guess I won't know until we get there. Thank you!

I wouldn't count on that. I would plan my dining around the credit use from check-in to day of check-out. Another oddity is on a transfer day, you have to use ALL your credits from first plan before accessing any from second plan.

Ex: Segment 1 is 2 nights, Monday and Tuesday. You get 2 nights of credits per person, starting Monday 6AM, and they have to be gone by Wednesday midnight.

Segment 2 is 1 night, Wednesday. You would get 1 night of credits, usable between Wednesday 6AM and Thursday midnight. However, Wednesday AM overlaps with Segment 1, and you have to use ALL the Segment 1 credits before using any from Segment 2. So, say you had 2 QS and 1TS left. At breakfast, you couldn't use 1TS from the Segment 1 stay and 2 from the Segment 2 stay, because the 2QS linger.

Repeat for each check-in/check-out.

Dining can be a nuisance when you're splitting stay.

Disney doesn't recognize "split stays". To Disney, you have 3 separate reservations. Are you planning to use more credits during one stay than you have? I would not count on getting reimbursed for that.

Thanks everyone. Its ok we can make it work. I was just curious if anyone had success with the advice I had been given.

Are you saying that the concierge can activate all of the credits for all three stays at once? So you'd be able to use the credits throughout all three stays without one expiring or needing to be activating?

The concierge cannot do that.

They also can't easily extend deadlines to use credits. (It is possible but it's not in the pixie dust category. It's in the move mountains category.)

I like dining plans, I really do. However if i had 3 separate resort reservations I would look long and hard at how much I wanted to juggle credits to "make it work." Frankly the split three ways stay would put me over the edge, but managing credits for each stay would see me curled in a ball in some corner.

The probelm with the info you were given is that it is likely not going to happen, so if you run into a problem you will be paying for credits you either did not or could not use, and getting that "fixed" wil take time out of your trip. Youare already using time switching resorts, so using more to address this kind of problem will be frustrating at best.

I would scrap the dining plans and pay OOP. If you choose to use a plan, look at the last stay, make it the longest, and book the DDP for that one. You can use your credits until midnight of checkout day.

Here's the thing - you don't have one entire package for the whole week. You have booked three completely separate packages, each with a room reservation and a dining plan. Disney's resorts operate semi-independently of one another, so there's no way to have a reservation or a package that covers multiple resorts.

Each of your three dining plans has a start and an end date that matches the resort reservation they're associated with. You can't separate the dining plan from the room reservation, so a concierge at the resort you're staying at, say, on Saturday-Sunday, can't just get into the reservation system and grab your Monday-Tuesday dining plan, separate it from your Monday-Tuesday hotel reservation, and give you the credits.

The person who gave you this advice may have been thinking of park tickets. Those are completely separate from the hotel reservation, so you can have one set of tickets that spans your entire stay.
