Dining outside of parks

I had 18 points left for this year, borrowed points, not bankable and 6 left to borrow from next year. I was considering renting out the 18, then I realized I could get a studio for 3 nights at OKW in Sept for 24 points, so I borrowed the 6 and I am going to spend a few nights and days in OKW in September with my girlfriends! Yeah, can't wait!
However, this will probably not be a park vacation, as we will not have a car, and it's just a couple of us ladies (they don't have park interest as I do) and the buses take so long from OKW (IMHO). Besides I don't do well in the parks in the summer heat. So.....I am thinking of making it a more relaxing by the pool, resort hopping, dining in places I've never dined at with DH (he's not an adventurer when it comes to food - more a burger or pasta kind of guy).
Can anyone out there give me suggestions or opinions on some of the resort restaurants? I'm thinking Yachtsman Steakhouse, Jiko, California Grill & Artist Point. TIA

Jiko's is our #1 favorite. Go early to take in the AKL main lobby and then park yourself on a rocking chair overlooking the savannah for a spell. Allow at least 2 hours for dinner and then walk off the meal exploring the pool area and savannah viewing locations.

While the Yachtsman is a very nice steak place ... we've enjoyed some awesome NY steaks at the Flying Fish (BW). (Go figure? Steak at the fish place?) Another good steak option is Shula's in the Dolphin Hotel.

We also enjoy Cape Mays (seafood buffet in the Beach Club) when visiting with friends. Somehow tables covered in butcher paper brings out the quirky conversation forgotten at "quieter" restaurants. Perhaps the crayons on the table help to spark creativity?

We visited the California Grill for the first time this past January. Food was superb -- but the prices were nearly unmentionable.

If the weather demands a "picnic" -- try ordering take-out from the Big River Grille (Boardwalk) and then enjoying your meal on the beach chairs (by Beach Club). If you timing is perfect -- catch the ferry to get your group from A to B.

Since trying Jiko, my wife and I go at least once and usually twice each trip. It is our favorite WDW restaurant. We have sent many friends there with no negative feedback.

I would strongly recommend Boatwright's at POR. I don't think I've ever had scalloped potatoes that good in my life!! And the chicken I had was so tender that it literally fell of of the bone, and directly into my mouth. As soon as we left dh & I both said "This is a must eat at for our next trip". We had a large party (6 adults and 4 children) and the service was wonderful. We were able to sample from everyone's plates and there are at least five entrees that I want to try now.

Excellent way of making lemonade out of lemons. Never lose points.

You could always go to to DTD as well. Maybe dine at SSR.
