We are on the 4 night April 1-5 sailing. Have never done a cruise let alone a DCL cruise. My wife and I and 6 kids (ages 3-16). We are in two adjacent staterooms but reservations are linked.
My question is- will we be at one large table together? Two 4 tops beside eachother. Not to be antisocial but we really don’t want to eat every dinner with strangers. Thanks y’all!

You can request a private table on the app before the cruise and also recommend going to Luna at embarkation to confirm your request with the dining team and see if it’s was honored. We also requested a private table for our cruise last week. We requested a private table when we booked and went to the dining team stationed at Luna once onboard to confirm the request. At first they said they could not honor it but put us on a waiting list—we ended up getting a private table. The cruise was fully booked. We were late seating which seems to be easier to get requests honored compared to the more popular early seating.

There were several large tables of 8 or more—we saw parties of 16 last week. A party of 8 should be easier to get a private table since you are a big group already—they aren’t likely going to add a party of 2 or 4 to a table that large already. Some of the tables are very close together (like 2 inches apart) so some “private” tables aren’t really private. We lucked out and were not in a crowded tight space for our table of 3 last week.

They have 8 top table arrangements on the Wish. We sailed with three linked staterooms of 8 people and were placed at a single table. You won’t be split up and I can’t see a way you’d be at a table with even more people.

When you get on the ship, they have a designated spot to check dining questions (dining rotation, table assignment, adult dining reservations). On the Wish it’s usually in Luna Lounge. If you notice in the app that you aren’t all assigned to the same table (you will be able to see this in the app), you can ask your question at this designated spot.

We had an identical experience not having our late dining private table request honored even after joining the waitlist. We were on a sold out sailing and found out, contrary to what we’ve always been told and experienced on past sailings, the early seating had lots of availability. Like you, I have always been told and experienced myself the late seating to have more availability. Apparently that isn’t always true.

When we joined the waitlist at Luna we had said we would do ANYTHING to get a private table. Apparently they didn’t think this meant we would move to early dining. But after a longer conversation the first night with our head server, we moved to early.

Just wanted to share that with people who enjoy having private tables that it helps to make it clear that you are willing to go to either seating (if you are open to that). It certainly benefited us.

We’ve had large groups several times in the past and have always been accommodated. We’ll be a group of 12 in December and I expect the same,

In our experience, and through reading these boards, I believe groups of 6 and more never share a table with strangers, even if no specific request is made.

Good to know! Yea we had always gotten our request so when we went up to confirm we were surprised they said no they won’t put us at a private table. We did mention that the request was made months ago but that didn’t seem to matter. We even got a message 2 hours later that our request could not be accommodated. But then we noticed later that evening our table number changed and it was a private table as we found out when sitting down to eat. I do believe that if we had not gone to Luna even though we had requested via the app we would not have gotten our request, so we will always go to confirm it from now on.

I feel like this makes logistical sense. When they mix groups, they try to mix similar groups, so a couple wouldn't be placed with a family of 6.

I was on the Wish in June. There was a large family, I'd say 12-15 people at one table behind us. Just call and put in a request about a private table.

As a party of 11/12, we've never shared with anyone else. That would be too hard. They can barely do our table.
