I've been looking at the allergy free menus offered in DLRP - very comprehensive I must say but they do look a bit uninspiring. It may just be the way they have to describe them, I'm sure nothing would sound appetising when you have to break it down to individual ingredients:rotfl:

With that in mind can anyone tell me if they know if any of the restaurants offer a basic 'meat and pots' type meal, steak and chips that kind of do. It's the sauces and coatings I have to be wary of

you'll get that at cape cod in newport bay - it's a buffet.
they have a huge roast they slice bits off for you - veal or pork or whatever.
the same at inventions with more of a selection but it costs more.
what are your allergies, if you don't mind me asking and are they severe ?

I have a daughter who has severe allergies to milk and soya and egg which can cause tremendous problems.

I did not ask specifically for any allergy free menus which was probably why the holiday was such a downer due to the food side. I packed lots of snack foods which she can have she had things like chips no problem but I had to ask were they fried along with battered type products (chicken nuggets) but I get the feeling they were frozen ones!

We didn't really book restaurants as such as I knew how much a hassle it would be.

However this time I am plan plan planning ahead and I am going well prepared and asking ots of questions.

DH had plain steak and chips at Cafe Mickey.

I would also think you would get this at Silver Spur in Frontierland and The Steakhouse in the Village.

I have [apparently] coeliac disease, an intolerance of wheat and wheat gluten.

It was diagnosed last year but apparently I would have had it from birth. It's v odd because I never had any symptoms, it was picked up in a blood test I was having for something else. I feel a bit like I've fallen down Alice's rabbit hole. 90% of the food I like will have wheat in it, and it crops up in stuff you wouldnt' expect.

I don't get ill with it, although I gather a lot of sufferers do, it's just that it makes you prone to other nasties like cancer.

I gather I'm okay with the steak and chips/potatoes kind of food and the allergy free menus they offer at DLRP are really comprehensive. I'm still in the early stages of adjustment with it so I'm at the 'fed up of feeling like a freak' stage. :scared1: Probably by the time my trip comes round I'll be well past that but it never hurts to be prepared:confused3

I also expect if you ask for no sauce with your meat etc, they would cater to your needs.

That's my hope too. It will be the first time I've taken an allergy abroad LOL so it's all going to be a bit of a learning experience I think

I know how you feel.

I had the same kind of problem when we went to DLP in October 2006. I had been discharged from hospital after being diagnosed with Gall stones and associated liver problems. (I was discharged from hospital on the Thursday and in DLP the following Monday!:scared1: Nothing was gonna keep me from my DLP fix:thumbsup2 )

I had to have a very low fat diet, no diary products and no booze!! The booze I was ok with but it was a real struggle at times to find something to eat as most of the meals come with fries or had something in them that I wasn't allowed it was real pain.

Hope you mange to find something and good luck. :thumbsup2
