THE LAST 2 TIMES I WAS ON ATKINS I KILLED MY DIET AT DISNEY BOTH TIMES. WITH THE NEW POPULARITY OF LOW CARBING HAS DISNEY ADJUSTED THEIR MENUS TO ACCOMADATE THIS LIFE STYLE. I WILL BE THERE OVER EASTER.

Disney has always had low carb options, you just have to look for them. I went early this month and stuck to atkins for the whole trip. For breakfasts I had atkins shakes & bars (which I had brought with me). I had salads for lunch, there is an excellent chicken ceaser salad in the land. Turkey legs are all protein and no carbs. The Hollywood & Vine at MGM is a good option having lots of meat and leafy salads on the buffet. At AK I went to Flame Tree where I ordered the ribs with no sides. The slab was big enough to fill me. Remember that you can order any item off the menu by itself (no fries or sides). At MK I got a burger from Pecos Bills, discarded the bun and topped the burger with sauted mushrooms, fried onions and lettuce from the fixins bar. There are a couple really yummy sugar free desserts at Epcot. At the coffee shop in Future World is a cheesecake that is great, in Norway there is a sugar free chocolate mousse. Now these desserts are not carb free but are better than the alternative. At the France Bakery I got the fruit & cheese plate, but ate only the cheese and a bite of the bread. It takes willpower and creative choices but it can be done.

DH was on Atkins 2 years ago when we went. He was able to stick to it. It made the rest of us miserable though.
He had no problems with breakfast or dinner, however lunch drove us crazy. He was sick of salads and the rest of us didn't want a heavy sit down lunch. He would get miserable around 12pm if he didn't eat.
Told him he's not allowed to worry about it at lunch this trip or we're not going.

Pecos Bill's at MK has great alternatives for Lunch- they have a wonderful Chicken Wrap and a great Salad. The tortillas have less carbs than regular bread or buns, so I stick to them.

Also- the wraps are HUGE, so there is plenty to share and get a side salad....

I agree though that it's much easier to do breakfast and dinner on low carbs...

I'm not on Atkins but South Beach..

for breakfast I'm looking at eggs/omelet w/veggies and tomato juice
For lunches and dinners I'm planning on eating at
O'Hanas - lots of grilled meats to choose from
Garden Grill - flank steak and salad
Cali Grill: fish and veggies
Teppenyaki: grilled meat and seafood and veggies (no rice for me)
other restaurants : chicken ceasar salad/hold the croutons and a big Diet coke!
I'm not planning on desserts as I don't care about them...

but I do intend to have a few tropical (non diet) drinks while I'm in the world (tsk tsk)

All that said, I'm prepared to splurge on a treat if the need arises....after all, my plane may crash on the way home!:hyper:

I just came back from WDW and pretty much stuck to my lo carb diet. Breakfast was easy, just kept away from breads and pastries. Eggs, bacon, etc was the easy pick. For lunch, I stuck with salads, or a burger minus the bun. At dinner, I ordered steak or grilled chicken options and stayed away from the potatoes, etc. You can even ask for strawberries for dessert if you feel that you must have something, especially is others in your party are having dessert. Good luck. And remember, you are doing alot of walking so even if you cheat a little, it most likely won't do too much harm. Have fun!!!:)

excellent tips for lo-cal at WDW, thanks, I will be using them in a few weeks.
