Dining discount at DL

I'm trying to figure out whether to upgrade to a Premier pass for the additional discounts (15% food, 20% merchandise) on a DL trip next week, or to just go with the DVC/Disney Visa discount (10% food, 10% merchandise over $50). We're going to have a big group (9), so that probably means a lot of spending and a lot of potential discounts.

So I'm comparing the discounted restaurants between the DL AP discount page and DVCMember and they look pretty even. Then I read the small print at the bottom of DVCMember...

All discounts are valid for a party size not to exceed 8 people (including the Member).

I flipped to the WDW restaurant list and there's no mention of an 8 person limit.

So, does DL really cap the discounts at 8? Would they just not discount one member of the party (hopefully the 5 year old that doesn't hardly eat), or not discount the entire party since we're over the limit?

I don't see any mention of a party limit on the DL AP site.

Thanks

I'm pretty sure the AP discounts and DVC Portable Perks are the same at DL. You can't combine discounts, and you have to be staying on points to use the DVC PP. The AP discounts are good for all visits.
Does the Premium AP have larger discounts? We downsized to Deluxe, and the discounts were exactly the same as the DVC PP. We are now realizing for our needs that the new DLR/WDW AP makes sense financially for us. We live in CA., and drive to DLR often.
I'm unaware of the guest limit, but we were in a party of 10, at the Jazz Kitchen in DTD, and the AP discount was honored as all of us had an AP.
If you are buying 3 meals a day at the resort, the discounts really add up. Almost every place that sells food honors the AP , or DVC discounts.

I'm not aware of a "person limit" on the DLR AP discounts. If there is an 8 person limit, you'd get a discount on all but the cheapest meal. Also a noticeable difference with the DLR AP meal discounts is that its valid at CS restaurants as well.

Yes, the Premium currently gets 15% off food and 20% of merchandise (DVC and the lower level APs get 10% for food). From what I read it's a temprorary boost, I think through the end of 2011.

According to DVCMember.com, DVC gets a discount on all of the CS restaturants too. I did a quick scan and I only see a couple of DTD places that differ on the DVC side (ESPN is a game card bonus, no Marceline's). But I see plenty of CS places on the DVCMember list (WWS, Bengal BBQ, Bakery, French Market, Rancho DZ, even the corndog wagon).

Merchandise is a different story - much better coverage with the DL AP.

The food discount is permanent for all APs. The merchandise discount is a "temp" boost (since Dec 09). The lower APs don't normally get a merchandise discount and the premium normally got 10% off. But the boost IS good until the end of 2011.

I was comparing to WDW APs that don't get CS discounts. Sorry for the confusion.
