Dining Dilemma

We are going to WDW in 3 weeks, and we do not have the dining plan. However, I did get ADR's at Whispering Canyon, Prime Time and Le Cellier. Here's my problem. My DS13 and DS 15 are picky eaters and don't eat much quantity either. They will want to order off the kids' menus. I asked the CM yesterday if they could do that and he said no. I'm thinking of cancelling my ADR's and just doing counter service -- yuck! Or maybe they'll just order a drink and dessert at the restaurants. Any advice? Thanks.

My son is 11, we were at WDW in August and were ON the dining plan.

There were one or two locations (WCC was one) where he really just wanted what was on the kids menu. We had no problem at all ordering for him from that menu, and there was no problem using the dining plan for it.

I've also read here that anyone can order off the kids menu, but there may be an additional charge for it. I think it just depends on how the server treats it when writing up the bill.

What we do when DD13 gets real picky, is let her get an Appatizer and dessert. If this still doesn't work we end up do a CS place afterwards. A little bit of a hassle but I could not eat CS for the entire trip. I wouldn't woory about them not finding something to eat, there's always Mickey Bars. When we're on vacation we tend to relize the rules a little and let the kids have what they want. Have a great time. Maine :firefight

maybe they can split an adult meal. most of the food at those 3 is pretty basic meat and potatoes and sometimes places will make a burger or something from their lunch menu if you ask. truthfully i couldn't take nothing but cs and would let them sit there and not eat & eat before or something if there is really nothihg they will eat.

I would say that the only place you may have a problem is Le Cellier. The other places would have ample other opportunities to eat stuff. 50's will have great desserts. Both 50's and WC will have fried chicken of some sort. Maybe they can split a skillet and just request only fried chicken or something.

I am a picky 33 year old and when we were there 2 weeks ago, I ordered off the children's menu at certain places and never had a problem. Of course we were on the dining plan so maybe that makes a difference. Anyway, you picked 3 of my favorite places to go! I would in fact encourage at 50's Prime Time having your kids skip the entree (my least favorite part) and just eat the appetizer & dessert- both wonderful! That's what I'm going to do next time. At Le Cellier, I was so full after dinner that I ordered the kids' dessert and there was no problem. Splitting meals is a good idea also...

they'd have to both pay for the skillet but you might be able to just get what they like on it or if others in your party get it ayou can get more of any item you want( don't have to get the whole thing refilled in other words)

If you're doing Le Cellier for lunch, I believe there is a burger on the regular menu :)

I have a teen and a 'tween and they often ordered appetizers as their "meal". Sometimes I split a meal with DD, who is 10. When she did order from the child's menu....at Sci-Fi and WCC...she was charged the child's price.
