OK, Me, the Wifey & 2 boys (1 & 4yo) are planning on attending MNSSHP... we are on the DDP and would like to have dinner prior to the party. I have a reservation at Ohana for 6:45pm (I tried for earlier, but this is all there was). We really would like to try Ohana and this seems like the only opportunity. So, I have a few questions...

-Will I miss anything significant at MNSSHP having a reservation at 6:45pm?

-Should I try for something earlier somewhere else? I can get the Concourse Steakhouse for 5:15pm, though I don't think the kids would enjoy it...

-I plan to try to move my reservation up to an earlier time at Ohana. How often should I call? Or, is there a particular time when cancellations usually occur?

-Last question... If I drive to the Poly to eat at Ohana, can I take the Monorail to MK for MNSSHP, then take the Monorail back to the Poly when we a ready to leave?

Sorry for all the questions...Thanks in Advance!

Well, I think that 645 is late on a MNSSHP night....party starts a 7 you might not get done with dinner until 8PM or so, then head over, possibly arrive at 830? At this point, getting something earlier near the MK will be luck of the draw...I would call daily and leave your options open for Liberty Tree, Crystal Palace, Plaza, Chef Mickey's or Tony's...if worse comes to worse, counter service. We usually do a 5ish at LTT and are done around 6ish with plenty of time to spare!!

Good luck, I hope you find something suitable!

I would definately try to get the MNSSHP as early as possible. You can enter the park at 4:00 with your ticket. When we attended this party a few years ago we had a large late lunch - entered the park at 4:00 - and had Caseys Hot Dogs while watching the first parade. You can also get ice cream on main street while watching the parade. As you are paying so much for the ticket to the party, you should enjoy the whole thing. Also, you really will not enjoy 'Ohanas as much as you should as you will be rushing through your meal to get to the party. They might not sit you exactly at your reservation time also.

As far as parking at the Poly and then attending the party - generally when you enter the parking lot at the resorts they will give you a 3-hour parking pass. They do try to discourage you from parking at the resorts and entering the park. They will probably be more strict about this on the night of a party as they think alot of people will do this.

My suggestion would be to take the earliest dinner possible. We will also be eating at the Concourse Steakhouse (4:40) and I have a 9 year old. I would not want to miss any part of the MNSSHP. I have never been and it sounds like so much fun.

Another option is a late lunch. Or counter service. You can always pick up a snack at the party in hunger strikes again.

We are going to MVMCP and are eating "dinner" (according to WDW) at CP at 3:30pm. That way we'll have a really big lunch and then we can grab snacks or some counter service as we are "partying" later in the evening.

I agree that a 6:15 ADR at Ohana is going to cut too much into your "party" time.

We have 6:40 ADR's at the Crystal Palace for our nite of MNSSHP. I figure we will be in the park already, a buffet is a quick meal, can be out and about in an hour.

You guys make good points...

I made the call. I got Tony's reserved for 4:45pm instead.

I am really disappointed to miss Ohana, but I will try to get it the night before. As of right now there is nothing, but I will keep trying.

Here's what my ADRs look like:

10/21 - DTD (possibly Raglan Road, not sure yet...feel free to recommend anything on DDP)
10/22 - Crystal Palace 4:45pm (May change to Ohana or Chef Mickeys)
10/23 - Tony's 4:55pm (MNSSHP)
10/24 - Liberty Tree Tavern 6:40pm
10/25 - Coral Reef 7:20pm
10/26 - 50's Prime Time Cafe 6:15pm

I am happy with everything but Crystal Palace, so that may change, my kids couldn't care less about Pooh.

Now, to buy MNSSHP tix... Do these usually sell out early? Also, what happens in the event of rain? Can you get a refund?

Thanks for all the help guys!

MNSSHP tickets generally don't sell out for dates other than Halloween night/weekend. We've even bought tickets the day of from our resort. The party goes on rain or shine (but may not have a parade or fireworks) and there is no refund for bad weather. The first party we went to it poured until about 10pm - only 1 parade that night and fireworks went of later than normal. We still had a great time though.

This sounds like a much better time to eat before the party. As far as Crystal Palace goes - the food there is really good - so even if you are not a Pooh and friends lover - the food is great. There is a large assortment of things to eat and it is all really good. The deserts are great also and they have a "Make Your Own Ice Cream Sundae" bar so do not feel bad if you cannot change your reservations. This has turned out to be one of favorite places to eat.

If you're able to get an earlier reservation for 'Ohana, you can park at the TTC and walk to the Poly. The walk (once you get off the tram) is only about 5-10 minutes. Then you can take the monorail to the MK without fear of having your car towed.

We've had breakfast at Kona Cafe and then moved on to the MK using this approach.
