Hi DIS'ers! So I am actually planning a second trip to the World, woohoo!!!! My friends and I want to go during the period after Thanksgiving and before Christmas. These are the restaurants we picked, most of them will be new to us, so we'd love opinions. Thanks!!

50's Prime Time
Alfredo's
Bongo's Cuban Cafe
California Grill
Coral Reef
Garden View Lounge for tea
Hollywood Brown Derby
Le Cellier
Liberty Tree
Marrakesh
Nine Dragons
Victoria & Albert's

50's Prime Time - fun and good!

Alfredo's - one of the best meals I have had at WDW. Way too much food for me, however.

Le Cellier - I eat here just for the soup and bread sticks.

Liberty Tree - Excellent flank steak and I hate meat!

Nine Dragons - Very good as well. The iced tea is very good.

50's Prime Time - Very good choice
Alfredo's
Bongo's Cuban Cafe
California Grill
Coral Reef - Not our favorite place...atmosphere was good but the food was not.
Garden View Lounge for tea
Hollywood Brown Derby - We didn't care for the food except for their grapefruit cake...it sounds strange but was good.
Le Cellier - We love it!
Liberty Tree - Good choice.
Marrakesh
Nine Dragons
Victoria & Albert's

Those w/o comments we have not tried yet. Let us know if you like them. Have a fun trip! :tink:

50's Prime Time :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 - the quintessential WDW themed dining experience

Alfredo's - such consistently bad reviews that it remains the only TS restaurant we've never been to

California Grill :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 - excellent food, great view, spotty service

Coral Reef :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 - excellent food, impressive desserts, neat atmosphere

Hollywood Brown Derby :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 - excellent food, good service

Le Cellier :thumbsup2 - despite two bad experiences out of two, we're going back to give it one more chance, on the strength of many positive reviews

Liberty Tree :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 - my favorite character meal

Marrakesh :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 - probably the most unique dining experience available for 1TS

Nine Dragons -

50's Prime Time - hated it, just did not like the whole concept of being reprimanded for not eating my peas...or whatever, I prefer to relax while eating.

Alfredo's - have always enjoyed meals there, prefer dinner as they have entertainment.....boisterous and fun, food was good.

Bongo's Cuban Cafe - have not eaten there.. very rarely go to PI

California Grill - thought it was good.. we ate there once and I have not rushed back....view is breathtaking though from the roof

Coral Reef - live on Cape Cod so not always in a rush to try Disney's version of seafood....we ate there once, food was decent..

Garden View Lounge for tea - is that the Grand Flordian one.. if so, we liked it and enjoyed the ambiance

Hollywood Brown Derby - consistently good meal, great service, we always eat at this restaurant.

Le Cellier - went there when it first opened and liked it, went this past year, did not like the menu changes, food was spicey and was not indicated on menu...not impressed.

Liberty Tree - I love this meal for a great character dinner, just wholesome America

Marrakesh - have not done this lately, but I do like Moraccan food and may try it again..

Nine Dragons - mediocre Asian food, I thought

Victoria & Albert's - lovely, done to the finest detail, food is good, pricey.

50's Prime Time - Did this for the first time a few weeks ago and enjoyed it. The CMs were very entertaining once they realized we were open to the script. DH enjoyed his fish sandwich and HUGE milkshake. I think it's one of those that's better with a group.

Alfredo's - Haven't heard consistent good reviews and we have good Italian around here.

Bongo's Cuban Cafe - Same as Alfredo's -

California Grill - This is DH's fave originally for the tamarind beef and the flatbreads but in July they added a bone-in ribeye he's considering ordering again during our upcoming trip. Their sushi is WONDERFUL.

Coral Reef - We did this for lunch in June and enjoyed it. Another place that gets inconsistent reviews. Lately it's been "great food horrid service" but we had a pleasant experience in June. Gotta  the FRESH FRESH FRESH shoestring fries. DH really enjoyed the lobster bisque.

Garden View Lounge for tea - Gotta love strawberries with fresh whipped cream, cheese and fruit all washed down with sparkling juice. :woohoo: In addition to tea, they also do pressed pots of coffee.

Hollywood Brown Derby - We've always had great lunches here.

Le Cellier - For the most part we've enjoyed eating here. Every so often the wait staff is "enh" but not to the point we would slash it from a fave.

Liberty Tree - As long as you know what it is (frozen comfort food) walking in you should be fine. Not our cuppa but know loads of people who look forward to going here.

Marrakesh - We prefer Tangierene Cafe to Restaurant Marrakesh because it's too "watered-down for Americans" and also heard even that quality had dwindled at one point awhile back. I read here yesterday, however, that if you request your CM order food they would eat done the way they would eat it that it's definitely :Pinkbounc :bounce: so may have to re-think one of our WS meals.

Nine Dragons - Had better Chinese food but the Salad in a Vase on the dinner menu was pretty cool presentation and fresh. Maybe you could do lunch where they have the sampler?

Victoria & Albert's :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

50's Prime Time - good food .. fun

Alfredo's - one of the very few places we will not go back .. bad food, bad service, tables on top of each other

Bongo's Cuban Cafe - haven't been

California Grill - been once .. good food and service .. had to wait forever .. may go back

Coral Reef - haven't been .. may go at some point

Garden View Lounge for tea - haven't been . sounds very nice

Hollywood Brown Derby - haven't been .. may go

Le Cellier - don't go anymore .. way too crowded .. food fine .. service spotty

Liberty Tree - lunch .. love it! we go all the time .. dinner - pretty good .. not rushing back but character meals aren't our thing

Marrakesh - haven't been .. will go next trip

Nine Dragons - haven't been - better Chinese food at home

Victoria & Albert's - oh wow! would love to go!

I noticed you didn't have any meals in resorts except V&A and Calif Grill. The Christmas decorations will be up when you are visiting. Other great resort choices would be Spoodles, Boma, Yachtman Steakhouse, Artist Point, Flying Fish and Kona Cafe.

I would suggest skipping Alfredo's and Nine Dragons. How about Spoodles to replace Alfredo's? Or Flying Fish to replace Coral Reef? It's a nice walk to the Boardwalk and you can go in the hotel and sit in the beautifully decorated lobby a bit before strolling back.

50's Prime Time - going there this trip
California Grill - going there this trip
Coral Reef - going there this trip
Le Cellier - going there this trip
Liberty Tree - YUMMY, went before for dinner and going back this year for dinner again!

Victoria & Albert's - very nice, but I found it a long dinning experience, I went with my DS7 at the time for a "grown up meal" he loved it but i was the one who found it a bit long!

going on Sept 30 2006 for honeymoon--le cellier--absolutely wonderful-have to eat there everytime I'm in disney
50's prime time-fun and food is very good
i'll let you know about Coral Reef and some others when I get back.... :sunny:  :bride:

Did not care much for the food at Alfredo's or Nine Dragon's, also, the service was not very good at either. Le Cellier was very crowded, but we had great service and I loved the mushroom filet mignon!

I've only been to three of the places, 50s Prime Time, Liberty Tree Tavern, and Le Cellier. I love all three places.

50's Prime Time - This is perhaps my favorite resteraunt in MGM. I love the 50s theme and how it has a home-like feel to it. The food there is good. Its also fun to go there because the waiters and waitresses are like your parents. It's very funny to see what they do to kids who don't eat their vegtables.

Liberty Tree Tavern- This resteraunt has a colonial feel to it. This is also a character meal. The characters are Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Chip, and Dale. They all wear colonial costumes ; it's very cute. I also like the food here.

Le Cellier - I love the food here and the Canadian atmosphere. The pretzel bread, in my opinion, is to die for. This is my favorite place to eat in the World Showcase.

I hope I helped you out a little.

Have fun in Disney!!

Please add Ohana's and Cape May Buffet to your list...you won't be disappointed! Sci-Fi is great for lunch!

Ive had a very good meal at Alfredos and excellent meal at CA Grill. Plus as noted above, the view is breathtaking! :thumbsup2

Yes, Sci-Fi is a great place to have lunch :thumbsup2

50's Prime Time - God awful

Alfredo's- above average italian food but fun place.

Bongo's Cuban Cafe- God awful

California Grill- good

Coral Reef - Not a seafood guy so never ate here

Hollywood Brown Derby - Good choice

Le Cellier - Could do a lot worse

Liberty Tree - this place used to be so much better. They ruined it by going "family style".

Marrakesh- not a fan of this cuisine, but I heard that people who like couscous and stuff love this place.

Nine Dragons- God awful. Extremely expensive mediocre Chinese food.

Victoria & Albert's- never did the elegant thing.
