We are 1st time AP holders. My family will be going to WDW 2 times May 7-14 and Nov 30-Dec7. I have heard some talk about a dinning card which allows you to save 20% off dining. How can I find out more? Isn't there already a discount of 10% with the AP? I'm so confused w/this. Could someone please help. :guilty: It is myself, DH and 2 DD's (4&6).

There is a card called the Disney Dining Experience. It is $50 for passholders and will get you 20% off your meal at almost every sit-down restaurant as well as the counter service places in Animal Kingdom. The annual pass gives you a 10% discount at some of the places in Epcot, if I remember right, but not everywhere.

If you do a search on this forum for DDE you will find a link to a Disney site that will give more information and places where the card is accepted.

If you log into the Passholders section on disneyworld.com, there is more info. Also, I think there is info at allearsnet.com

For us it is well worth it. We have 3 trips this year and we really enjoy sit-down meals at least once a day. If you are more of a counter service family, it's not really worth it as DDE is only for sitdowns.

The 10% AP discount seems to be selected resort restaurants & WS restaurants at lunchtime. I've had AP on & off since '98 & never gotten a meal discount to speak of.

I think the 10 percent AP discount is just for lunch at certain restaurants, and it may be limited to weekdays only. We liked having the DDE. We definitely saved money, but it also meant that we ate more sitdown meals. If you are planning on eating sitdown meals anyway, it's well worth it. You might want to order your card soon for your May trip. It is possible to get the discount with just a letter from the DDE office.

The restaurants that you receive the discount of 10% with the AP is only for lunch times. We normally do our sit down meals at dinner. The DDE card is good at lunch and dinner and you receive a discount of 20%. I think the restaurants are pretty much the same, just the discount and times are different.
