We are planning a trip to Vero beach with my husbands family for October and are wondering about dining options in the area. We will definately be trying Sonia's and Shutters, but were looking for some nice, but child friendly options nearby.

Also, are there any characters at Vero? I just want to be able to prepare the kids if there aren't. Thanks!

Seems like there is a character breakfast on Saturdays with Goofy and Max. There are some really good restaurants in the area surrounding the resort -well, just a short drive away in Vero Beach and Sebastian. The front desk has a wonderful book you can look through that lists all the restaurants and menus. They will print out directions for you too. I always enjoy Captain Hiram's in Sebastian, among many others.

We also enjoy Capt. Hirams

I've complained since we moved down here that there just aren't enough places to eat around here. We don't have a lot of chain restaurants.

One place we've taken a liking to is Charlie and Jake's. They are very casual. It's kind of a sports place but very family friendly. They have great wings, chicken, ribs, french dips, etc. Their salads are wonderful. We just ate there last night. Our 8 yr old DS loves it.
