We have decided we would like to have dinner at the Grand Floridian on our next trip in April. Having looked at the dress code (and the price!), we have decided against Victoria and Albert's. However, we were wondering whether any of you have dined at Narcoossee's or Cirico's recently. And, if you did, what you thought.

We had dinner at Narcoossees a few weeks ago and it was fantastic. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was great too. We had an ADR for 9pm, this worked out perfectly as we got to see the fireworks from MVMCP and the electrical water pagent! The grand floridian cafe is nice too but narcoossees has a nicer atmosphere.

It's a long time since we ate at Citricos, but we did eat at Narcoossee's in October and thoroughly enjoyed it. Although we'd wanted to try it for years, it doesn't always get the best reviews, so we somehow never seemed to get around to it. We also got to see Wishes - we went out onto the verandah and our server didn't rush us at all.

Seconding what Deb said (probably because we were eating with them at the time!) but Narcoosees was very good. Not rushed and a nice menu. Time it to watch Wishes from the balcony and it's a great night.

It's a shame you have ruled out Victoria and Albert's as it was the highlight of our dining experiences last holiday. Having said that, I can appreciate that it is very expensive.

Kev - it was the dress code more than the price that made us rule out V&A's. DH doesn't particularly want to have to pack a jacket, shirt and tie just for one meal. We like to dress very informally while we're over there - perhaps it's because we have both had to wear suits to work for years.

Is not a problem to take a suit, I do it every time we go over.
Two reasons
1) So we can eat at V&A's, yes its that good.
2) the American dry cleaning shops are fantastic and an excellent price.

DH doesn't particularly want to have to pack a jacket, shirt and tie just for one meal
For years I repeatedly crossed V&As off my 'to do' list because dh didn't want to pack a jacket for one meal (a tie isn't required, btw). To be fair, I didn't really want half a suitcase taken up with one outfit, either - especially one I couldn't wear :rotfl: . In January 2004 that all changed when my brother decided that's where he wanted to eat for his 40th birthday. Since then, a jacket is always the first thing on the list. I agree with Obi - it really is that good.

Rather than take a suit, Matt takes a pair of dark coloured smart/casual trousers (usually Tommy Bahama, which are a relaxed fit, but well made) and a lightweight and light coloured jacket. Where a restaurant stipulates that a jacket is required, you should keep it on throughout the meal. Dh gets hot easily, so he wears a short-sleeved, open-neck (but collared) shirt (again, invariably Tommy Bahama) under the jacket. He then wears the trousers and shirt (without the jacket) for other nice restaurants, and wears the jacket, normally with jeans, to travel in. As soon as he's on the plane, he takes it off, but it saves space in the suitcase.

We went to both Narcoosees and V&As in December.

We really liked Narcoosees, it was a lovely meal, not rushed and a lovely setting.

V&As was outstanding, and so worth packing a jacket for, do it you will not be disappointed.

I would look at V&A as well, it is great, my OH takes a light pair of torusers such as chino's and a very light linin Jacket, they can also lend you a jacket. The food is fantastic.

Otherwise narcoosse has a good view with a steak and seafood menu, Citricos is more of a Mediterranean style.

Hi,
At the other end of the scale we ate at the GF Cafe last December. It was one of nine places we used on the dining plan and we thought it was one of the best evenings we had. The food was excellent as was the service and we will definately go back there again.

Mick.

Thanks for all the advice. V&A sounds too good to miss! Will have to persuade DH to take a jacket.
