Dining at HS seems lacking for choices

Has anyone had anything decent in the way of QS at Studios lately? It seems like the QS menus have really been cut way back since reopening. My husband eats low-carb and I can't find anything on any of the menus he can eat. I haven't been able to get an ADR anywhere at Studios and I've been looking since our 60-day window opened up. I'm kind of at a loss as to what we will eat on that park day.

The ABC Commissary has salads. Docking Bay 7 has a few low-carb items. But overall there are not a lot of QS choices when it comes to low-carb.

It's crazy how difficult it is to get an ADR these days.

Not low carb, but we were really impressed by the sandwiches at Woody's Lunchbox when we were there a few weeks ago. We got the turkey sandwich and the grilled brisket/cheese sandwich and shared them. They were both really good.

I liked the southwest salad at backlot express. They have versions with or without chicken. DH got the Tattoine two suns hummus.

I agree with you, DisneyHardin, the grilled brisket/cheese sandwich is quite good. I really liked the Fried Green Tomato sandwich at Rosie's - but they discontinued it. Over at the Backlot Express they have an acceptable Cuban sandwich. So not all is lost over there as far as QS goes But it does need improvement..

You might have some luck using the touringplans reservation finder....it's usually come through for me but will see about this next time with how hard it's gotten! good luck!

Disney Imagineering can work technological miracles but Disney still can't improve the CS options and DHS.
I think the CS options are fantastic at DHS, I can never decide what I want because there are so many good choices. Then again, I don't eat low-carb, so I can't help there.

You could leave and go to a nearby resort. We take a long afternoon break and are planning to head over to Riviera.

First time I have ever heard anyone say this. There are things to eat but "so many good choices" is a new comment.
Interesting. I see it pretty frequently on here and am legitimately perplexed when people say that all the food there is bad.

I envy you. It is always better to have too many choices than too few. :)

Thanks for the suggestions. I like a good Cuban so maybe we'll try to get Backlot to work. We'll take some of his low-carb bread with us. I know our kids really like Sci-Fi and I would look for an ADR there, but they don't even have a steak on the menu anymore -- all burgers and pasta. I knew his eating low-carb would be a challenge at Disney under normal circumstances but with so many of the menus being cut down, it's really going to be hard. I know he'll have at least one "cheat" day here and there, but he really does feel better when he eats what he's used to.

The kefta at Docking Bay 7 is not low-carb. The kefta is impossible meat, so grains=carbs. It has pita and hummus. Don't get me wrong. I like it, but it's not low carb. It also gave me heartburn; I think it's the kefta. Maybe a burger with lettuce instead of bun :confused3 DHS is almost impossible for a QS low-carb meal. Even the salad at Backlot has a ton of carby things, ie tortilla strips, beans. Catalina Eddie's has a caesar salad, but it's closed and no protein. Is Hollywood Brown Derby full? They have a really good steak. Their cobb salad might even be low-carb. I totally know how he feels. I feel like garbage at home when I don't do keto. However, at Disney, it usually doesn't bother as much, because we are walking miles.

EDIT: ABC Commissary has a mediterranean salad with chicken, but he will have to avoid the hummus, pita, and possibly pepperoncini. What about the antipasto salad at Pizzo Rizzo? In a pinch, he could eat the cheese and toppings off a pizza there. Other than those, the choices are abysmal for low-carb.

Baseline does a great charcuterie board that has three cheeses, two meats, pickles, mustard (grapes and bread too but he can avoid those). Could be a solid snack or light meal option. They also have North Coast Scrimshaw which is only 2 carbs per beer and actually tastes like beer!

Pot roast meal at docking bay 7 is pretty good. You don't have to get the pasta with it. There is an option to switch out the sides.

You might take a look at the menu for Ronto Roasters. Their wraps do come in a pita, but the sausage inside is pretty tasty and I think the coleslaw would be low-carb.

I always hear people say this, but I don't really find the options to be all that limited. We just ate at Backlot Express for the first time and it was actually really good. The southwest chicken salad was delicious and my husband really enjoyed the Cuban sandwich. Baseline Tap House is another great option for a quick snack. The charcuterie and giant pretzel are a winning combination.
