Does anyone remember the last time they got a DING! fare for Buffalo to Orlando? It has to be around 2 years that I remember. Anyone?

Yes, I haven't had a decent Ding fare from Buffalo to Orlando for a couple of years either. I think that now that so many of us fly out of Buffalo Southwest puts out fewer deals.

It's a downloadable program from Southwest that sits on your desktop & notifies you of deals at specific airports. I got a "Ding" this morning that let me know that their flight schedule was open for bookings from now until October.

I cannot believe it !!!

SWA fares for last 2 weeks of August for BUF-MCO this year is terrible !!!!
(I got it for $59 each way last year)

For example: 1st flight for August 21: first thing this morning, it started at $149, and bounced several times up to $171 .... tonight, it shows $194 !!!
The only cheaper flight for that day is the last flight which will take almost 5 hours for $69.

I found a flight out on the same date with Air Tran (will take a total of 4.5 hrs with 1 stop) for $69 pp ($90 total with taxes).

Any suggestions ??? Do I just buy this air tran or take a chance and wait for southwest incase thier prices goes down.

Does it ever go down drastically with southwest ?

Southwest is not what it used to be. I have been checking my flights every day since I booked a few months ago and not once have they dropped in price but because yours are starting off high I think they will drop a bit.

I used to us SW for Vegas flights also but now it is cheaper to fly out of Toronto.

Our April flight went from $168 to $64..i went on every day and checked...we ended up getting our roundtrip flight for $448 for the 3 of us taxes included!!!!! It was the cheap price one day but when i went back to book they were right back up there..I checked every day and a week later they were back down!!!! I booked the flight 2.5 months ago! Give it some time..check every day after about 10am

SWA prices and times were bad for us as well so I booked on airtran for 400 for the 2 of us. I will keep checking the prices but am fairly happy with it, direct flight and times work for us.

We were going to book AT for our flight down but the only non-stop got us there at 7:13 so when I worked out the baggage costs & seats SW ended up costing $17 more per person so we booked SW, but AT on the way home. SW prices for the way home were awful so AT was $89 pp on the way home non-stop. I ended up getting SW non-stop for $104.

Last year we booked AT for $64 pp each way & even AT was more expensive this year in September.

I would wait for a bit. I never book very far in advance simply because I don't plan in advance. Last year I booked for the end of August in June. The fare was bouncing back and forth between $59 and $62 each way with AT. Of course I booked in the morning at $62 and later that day it was $59. Oh well no biggie.

I do watch the fare constantly, mainly out of curiousity, and what I see is that the first day or so that new dates are opened up the fares are the lowest. Then they go up for a while and drop back down. My basic rule is this...when you see a fare that you are OK with, book it. Sometimes you will luck out and get the best fare and other times you won't. If you travel often in the end it will all average out.

I always find with AT their fares never go down or bounce around, the earlier you book, the better because the webdeals do disappear eventually.

Our flights are costing us more this year, but not by much, only about $22 dollars, but the dollar is better now than when I booked last year (I think it was 0.82 last year) so probably in the end, it's costing us the same :)

We have Disney booked for August 16-28th and flight prices out of Buffalo on Southwest are horrible right now. We are looking a paying more than twice what we paid last year.

My plan is to keep checking the prices in hopes that they drop down in the $60 price range that they normally tend to be available at. It seems the general thought is the prices are too high...hopefully that means they'll realize that and adjust them accordingly.
