I did a DING for the first time today...wait, that sounds dirty :lmao: Anyhow, I know I am going to regret this whole DING thing. I got roundtrip aifare for four for $508...nonstop flights. From ME/NH, that is a huge bargain! My in-laws have a condo on Clearwater Beach, and we are going to stay there for a few days...so, now hotel costs. We are thinking of either Bush Gardens or a day trip to Sea World....thoughts?...advice?....cheap park tickets? The kids are 4 and 6, so I am leaning towards Sea World.

Also, I have never flown SW before, but I recall something about boarding in groups...any info? I think DING is going to turn out to be the bane of my budget...:rotfl2:

The southwest website has a whole thing on how to get your boarding passes online and how it all works. It's actually a very well done little video.

Okay, at the risk of sounding very stupid, what is a Ding?

DING fares are great when you can get them!! I found a great one today, from NH to Orlando, except they are for May and we're not going until September.... Rats! As the AP said, check out their little boarding video on the SW web site. It helps.

DING fares are from Southwest Airlines. You download the notification software from their site, select your airport preference, and you get a little desktop icon on your computer that goes "Ding" when they have special fares to offer. Their ad campaign has been on tv before, and you hear the "Ding" (which is the same sound as when the Fasten Seatbelts light goes on or something, on the plane), and it says "You are now free to move about the country."

DING fares are usually offered to try to fill empty seats, and are often really great deals!

Thank you very much! I will have to look into this... Although Southwest doesn't fly out of Syracuse, NY it may be someplace close by. :)

Good for you for getting a good rate! I have the DING too - but it hasn't worked so well for me! We paid $257.00 EACH WAY flying out of Manchester for April vacation - and we are a group of six people - it cost us a small fortune! Our trip was initially supposed to be 4/19-4/26 but ALL the flights were sold out flying out on that Saturday. So I had to move our whole trip up a day! UGH!! I think Jet Blue was charging $399.00 each way out of Boston! It is crazy! They love to price gauge you when they know it is a vacation week! ;)
Anyway I am glad it worked for you. Hopefully I can benefit from the DING with our trip in November.....

Have Fun!

HeatherAnne :) :) :)

My Ding fell through...so sad! I forgot DDs dance recital was that wekend, so I had to cancel.

Question for you Ding experts: do they traditionally have rates for Sep-Nov?
ot to Chicage? I have yet to see a rate from MHT to Chicago
