i am sooo glad i was encouraged here on the disboards to download swa's DING program... i was able to reduce my tix to nashville (for Christian Youth Leaders' Conference) in july... i am sooo happy!! hoping also that i will soon find some lower fares to mco as well! :flower:

Yeah! I finally downloaded Ding to home computer. Wow, was it worth it!

I was able to get 2 tickets to MCO from Chicago-Midway $209 (Total). :cool1:

I am so excited. Glad I finally did this. It saved me over $110 for the same flights if I hadn't used Ding.

I would really be happy if I could have my Ding at work. Got home yesterday and missed the $47 Tampa to Bwi I wanted because it expired. Hope it comes up again in the late afternoon/evening time frame.

okay. i have installed ding on my computer. please no laughing too hard,i am the first to admit i am computer challenged. however, should i have an icon or something on the toolbar to indicate it is on? does the program turn on when i turn on the computer? no laughing, you promised!!! thanks for the help! :earboy2:

See the thread titled "Ding at Work" by jimdamedic. It explains how you can find the fares without downloading

after downloading ding, i have a little red/orange "tail" (as in airplane tail) icon on my toolbar next to my volume, my weatherbug, im icon, etc... when new ding fares are offered i get a little sound (dinging sound) and a little envelope appears on that tail... i double click it and it takes me to a small screen w/a little paragraph about why they are offering specials (spring is sprung, wake up coffee, etc specials... cute wording sometimes) and then you click that special and it takes you to an internet explorer screen that offers airfares in an alphabetical list (i.e. long island to orlando) and you follow the booking instructions from there... easy, i swear, and no laughing, just smiling :flower:

gigi1313, i had the red-orange tail at one time on the toolbar, but now it is gone. :earboy2:

I love the Ding! also! Got my hubby, son and friends on a great direct flight out of BHM for about $40 per person less than their standard specials and $132 less per person than HSV.

I got BUF to LAX one way for 110 after taxes. I have been reccommending everyone who is vacationing to get this and to check out the rates.

I have downloaded Ding twice on my home computer. It works for a couple of days, then I get a "communication error" message. I've been getting the ding sound and when I click on the tool bar it says, "there are no messages to display." I know this sounds ignorant, but how do I fix this step-by-step.
I have Norton's and AOL. I think maybe it's a firewall issue. I've tried disabling it and it doesn't change anything. I really need an idiot's step-by-step. guide to keep this thing working. Thanks.

I get the communication error thing almost daily. I right click on it, exit it, then go to the start menu and start it again and it seems to work. After I do it, it takes a while for a ding to show up that should already be there, but it does work.

Maybe this might help you. Don't know

BUF to Orlando today! Any takers?

I'm not sure if this applies to anyone who is having problems but I saw it on the web today.

One drawback to the Ding system is that it is only compatible with Windows 98SE, Windows ME, and Windows XP operating systems. Customers using earlier versions of Windows, or Macintosh computers, cannot receive the Ding alerts at this time.

I don't get something on my tool bar until I've gotten "dinged" - the icon just isn't there. . . . :confused3
