DING Questions????

I just have a few questions about DING fares..... We are looking to fly @ the end of September. When do the really discounted fares come out? Like a month or 2 before? I know that Southwest is booking up until Oct 27th now, but are those really the DING fares? Can anyone just book DING fares over the net? Thanks!

The fares shown on the website are not DING fares. You need to download DING to your computer and when DING specials become available you will be alerted. Then you go through the special link you will get to see the DING fares being offered. So far (at least for my home airport), the DINGS have only been for flights through the end of July. I think it will be a while before they offer DINGS for the end of Sept.
Yes, specials (other than DINGs) often come out maybe 2 months out, but there is no guarantee. Also, you always run the risk of the times/ dates you want being booked or only available at the most expensive fare classes. It's always a gamble, but less so with SW, because if you do book now and fares decrease later, at least you can get a credit.
