I'm new to DING. We downloaded the software last month when someone here announced a good Philly to Orlando fare that covered our travel dates in May. Since then the travel dates have only been for the next month or so from the date of the DING. And we got rates of $39 to/from Orlando from Philly (with taxes and other costs it worked out to just under $100 per person round trip). The most recent Philly-Orlando DING was twice that.

Did DINGs used to cover more timeframe? Were they better rates? Or was I just lucky?

We were lucky. I booked some in that extended window as well, but have not seen any since then. There is an extensive thread in this forum that tracks the history of the released dings. You can check it to make sure there hasn't been any since then, but that was the only one I remember.

you were lucky.....

I saw that Ding but they also had BWI to MCO for $39 which is what we preferred......

I remember it was a Tues night when I stay later at work and it came at like 5:30 or so......

I haven't seen any dates in May since then though.....

We are flying home on the 29th so no dings available... (Hoping to get my DH's fare down from $148 but not holding my breath. DD and I are flying on RR that day.)

So here is a good question? If you book at a certain price for your airfare and a ding comes up can you get the lower price then. I would book the online special first.
