Dine with Shamu food

We are planning to stay at The Dana and I was looking at their Sea World packages. The Nemo package is a decent value- cheaper than getting the hotel and SW tickets separately. It seemed like the Dine with Shamu package was an even better deal. So I looked at the SW website about Dine with Shamu and it listed a few foods offered. I can't remember what they were, but they weren't really things we would like...we like plain food! Yes we're kind of picky. I thought those were the only choices. But I did a little search here and somebody said it was a buffet.

So has anyone been there recently and can describe what's on the buffet? I saw there were kids choices mentioned on the website, so if those kids items were on the buffet for anyone to take, that would help.

Another question, if anyone has stayed at the Dana and done this package- it says one of the perks is a complimentary upgrade, if available. Does this mean you could get moved up to a better room than you paid for? Has that happened to anyone? I'm thinking of booking the newer side.

This isn't about what you asked but I just wanted to tell you that my wife and I did the dolphin experience at Sea World and absolutely loved it. We did the cheaper of the two and if I remember right it was around 50 dollars each. We did not get in the pool with this one, but it was still a great experience. You still get to touch the dolphins and give them hand signals and all that, you just don't have to get wet to do it. It was well worth the money in our opinion and was the highlight of our last trip to San Diego. This may be a good alternate instead of doing the Dining with Shamu.
